age affect hp?
As my lude approaches 100k I was wondering how much mileage decreases horsepower. Say i dyno'd a new lude and it has about (161?) to the wheels. If the car has had all check ups, synthetic oil, 93 octane gas, would it still dyno at the original hp say 6/7 years later?
Stupid question, but I was just wondering.

That would be hard to say. It would all depend on how everything was holding up. Mine has about 195,000 on it and I have driven it since it had about 130ish and I haven't noticed any difference. But if your rings went then it would definitely be a lot lower. there is just too much to take into account to say for sure.

As you get older, do you think you can run the mile run as fast as you did before?
I remember in high school, I could run the mile in under 7 minutes. There's no way I can do that now, I'm just getting old and tired. The same goes with cars.... unless you rebuild and fix it up, it loses! Same w/ yourself, if you work out and excercise, who knows, maybe you can run the mile in under 7 minutes again.

But a machine doesn't age the same as people. If you put a car in storage for 30yrs. and it is done properly it will run the same as it was when you put it away. Yes some things do wear out over time. But look at some of the cars out there that are from the 30's that still run great. I would like to see some 70+yr old person run like they did when they where 10

Sorry, but that is the dumbest comparison I've seen. Human vs machine.

What about freezing a human in a cryogenic chamber for 30 years since we are comparing internal combustion engines to humans.......

I would say that there would be some loss in horsepower, but if the car is well maintained it should not be a signifigant loss. Tune-ups are necessary to keep a car running in good condition. new plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button, air filter, fuel filter, etc would all contribute to making your car run in tip top condition.
Other than that, there may be losses just from regular wear on the engine. machines wear down with time, it is inevitable. there are alot of variables to consider in figuring out how much tim ethey will wear down in. Honda makes good engines that seem to run for a really long time, so just keep the car well maintained and you shouldn't have to worry for a while!

Hey silver97 you should have you motor leak down and compreesion tested. that might tell you why it has a low dyno. my 97 dyno at 166 with like 75,000 miles. but my piston rings were in bad shape.

That wasnt what mine was dyno'd at, it was just what i though i remembered reading that a base lude had. I have not had mine dyno'd yet, im waiting till i get a vafc and cam gears but with my i/e/pullies i would hope to be around 175whp, hopefully more.
