Default AEM intake

i bought an AEM shortram not to long ago. Had it installed and everything, well being an AEM i thought it would fit right in, but the y left a hose on top of the intake loose, i think its the one connected to the air boost valve, the one that goes into the stock intake tube. So i just put a breather on it , my question is did i do the right thing or do i have to make a small hole in the AEM intake tube and just hook it up( I dont really want to do ). Any information would be much appreciatted, thanks in advance
