Acoustic feedback system and another question
I searched the forums about explanation of the acoustic feedback system (in 5gen preludes) and found that it controls the distortion in the rear speakers. Is it really true? What about the front speakers? I disconnected the plug from that system and got nothing from all of my speakers. Shouldn't the fronts work if it only controls the rears? I just want to know if this is how it's supposed to work. Can anyone confirm this by simply unplugging the thing and turning on your radio?
The reason I ask is because the previous owner had subs/amps and other custom audio and may be something was rewired in the car...because I think my front channels are crossed. I found on internet the wire color chart and here what it said for the fronts:
LEFT
+ blue/green
- gray/black
RIGHT
+ red/green
- brown/black
Is this correct? Well, I don't know...for some reason the left channel wire colors are actually on the right side (when I check them at the door, where the speakers are located) and the right channel colors are on the left side. Nevertheless, I connected as the chart said and the balance on the radio seems to work correctly. Weird or normal?
PS. I didn't post it in the audio forum because this is very specific to preludes.

i dont know all the details of the acoustic feedback system (so this is a bonus bump
), but from everything i have read here is what i *think* it does:
-removes distortion from all four speakers. It works with small microphones that pickup high pitched distortion frequencies, it feeds this input to the acoustic feedback "brain", which then adds a signal to the radio output that cancels out the distortion (if you know anything about sound waves you know how this is done).
ANYWAYS - i'm not sure if you have any stock (radio, speakers, or acoustic feedback box) components in your car, but the audio system in Preludes is build on a 2 Ohm impedance system whereas most aftermarket audio stuff is either 4 or 8 Ohms. this means the stock stuff won't work well with aftermarket - i'm not sure if the wires you have are correct or not (ask in the audio forum...), but if it isn't it may be the result of a half-assed attempt at bypassing some stock components or dealing with a stock component still part of an aftermarket system.
i'm reasonably sure of the info i've posted, but if anyone sees any mistakes feel free to correct me. i think you should probably post this in the audio forum regardless, since the prelude forum usually deals with mechanical issues as opposed to audio systems. either way, can't hurt to have it in both

Well, if you're correct that the AFBS works with all four speakers and not only the rears, then I guess I'm normal here. But I still have no idea why my front speaker wire colors are reversed. If anyone has nothing else to do and wants to unmount one of the front speakers and tell me the wire colors - it'd be greatly appreciated
PS. I asked on audio forum about the wire colors...with no luck

hey you are in Ontario...
check out http://www.ottawaprelude.ca or http://www.torontopreludeclub.ca (not sure about the toronto url).
either way lots of people who know lots about the cars... they'll know that kind of thing.
i dont have a 5th gen so i can't check
