Default AC Problems..

Hey all-- tried searching, maybe AC is a tricky term to find hits on since its so short, and airconditioning resulted in nothing..

I have a 1992 Prelude SI with 1996 H22a1swapped in.. to my knowledge its the older air conditioning system?? the 92's? Never the less it sucks and only blows cold if im wailing on it in a gear..so on the interstate in 5th gear its not enough to make it blow cold.. the cold fades in and out also.

Hoping to upgrade to the new style? Any more documentation on this - has anyone done it?

Thankyou

I am about to get my AC fixed. It hasn't worked since I bought the car almost three years ago.

I replaced the ac compressor since the clutch was obviously bad on it. I hope the new compressor does the trick.

Have you done the fix that many say fixes the climate controls and the AC issue? The one where you pull the climate controls out and resolder the button points.

Try that.

No, certainly should though. I mean the light stays lit, it just doesnt do anything after a few minutes of cold air blowing. I should definately try to do that though, because air only blows out of my front vents.. meaning i have to aim my front vents up at the windsheild when i want to defrost lol.

Thanks for the tip.. lemme know how replacing yours goes.

if you want to change to r134a all you have to do is evacuate the old stuff (supossedly illegal) and put the new stuff in with new fittings for the hi and lo lines

Yes, you definitely need to resolder the points then. It not only fixes the button lights but it also fixes the fan direction. I've heard that this fix fixes the AC issue too.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes. I'll do the same.
