Default AC Lights

For some reason part of my AC lights quit working. Its the ones that light up the temp slide bar and setting slide bar.

I checked to make sure the connectors were still plugged in and they are. The weird thing is that the other AC buttons light up just not the 2 slide bars. Is it just the bulb or something wrong with the unit?

I believe you have to replace the tiny little bulbs that are in the unit. I did it on my GSR back in the day.

The bulbs should pop out easily from the top of the unit.

You can see the bulbs here

The unit has three bulbs in it. They screw into the back of it. To replace them you must take the entire climate control assembly out, which is a total pain.

http://home.mindspring.com/~re....html

this shows how to take it all apart, the bulbs are the little round plastic circles on the back of the climate control. You must turn them counterclockwise like a screw to get them out, and clockwise to put the new ones in. Don't tighten them too much because it will break the bulb.

Let me know if you need help.

Smack the **** out of it. That'll get it working. American parts, Russian parts, all made in Taiwan!

But you need to open it up to get a better idea.

What he means is that most of our cars just have the bulbs burned out, others are probably just loose.

because the back of the bulb is just plastic and it has grooves on it that makes it hold onto the climate control when it is "screwed" in. The plastic becomes brittle over time and the bulb actually starts to move around, and if the metal contacts on it are not touching the climate control, the circuit is incomplete, thus no lighting. Smacking the CC gets the bulbs back in the right place. I did this for about 2 years until i just couldn't take it anymore.

hey heres a good write up on taking the unit out. i just did it and it took like 20 minutes. i did it to take out the circuit board and resolder the broken ones so my buttons all work right hopefully.
