Default 4th Generation JDM RHD Dash Conversion??

What's good, guys?

Aight, I keep running into these guys selling JDM front clips with no motors, and full RHD dash boards... They claim that its perfect for a RHD conversion!? IMO, that's a nasty idea... but how possible is it? I know that with enough money anything is possible, but has anybody done it? And if so how pricey would it really be?

Secondly, a friend of mine was telling me about his idea to import a RX-7, and he got me thinking... Why convert my USDM Prelude, when i coudl just get a JDM Lude right off the boat!? ...Has anyone out there imported a 4th gen Lude from Japan and what kind of BS did you have to go through to get it into the States? What had to be altered to pass EPA/DOT regulations? How much were the importation/customs fees?

I'd appreciate all the help you guys could give me... Thanks!!

well, i dont know about costs, but i do know in order to ship a JDM Prelude to the states will require you to strip the car down into seperate components. Then you have to ship those parts seperately. If your going the legal route, i would imagine you would have to buy state-side legal parts to swap onto it once you get everything over here. then you have to register it. (keep in mind you will have to pay seperate shipping on the seperate parts.) In my opinion, its really not worth it.

it would be better to just save the money that you'd spend on that and make it turbo, or trick it out. you'd get just as many looks and respect with a pimped out LHD car as you would with a normal JDM RHD. Like H22A4 Prelude said, it's not worth it.

Tell your friend that it's impossible to legalize a Japanese RX-7 for road use.

There's about 2 million threads about this on http://www.rx7club.com
