Default 4th Gen Headlight Problem...

Has anyone had problems with their headlights on the 4th gen preludes? My headlights only come on sometimes, and then I cant get them to come on for a while. I was just wondering if anyone in here has had that same problem, and if so...what was done to fix it!? Thanks!

I've never heard of that. My best advice is to carefully check all of the wiring/connections.

This problem just started here about 3 days ago and I havent been able to drive the prelude at night, I miss her! The running lights and the turn signals all work that are on the same switch, it is just the headlights that will not come on...

Thanks for the advice, Ill check as much of the wiring that I can...I am no electrician!

If anyone else has any advice or tips...Please let me know! Thanks!

Its in the under hood fuse box, and is certainly your problem.

alright how would i know if the relay is messed up?
do i have to just buy a new one?
and theres also a dimmer relay next to it, do you guys know what that is?
my interior lights like my gauges and gas/temp gauge are really dim, is that the relay that could mess that up as well?

Try to plug your ABS relay into your headlight relay...If it works...Then your headlight relay is gone/going bad.

i know you got a 4th gen from vancouverpreludeclub.com (seen ya there) - so in any case - on 4th gens (atleast mine!) there is a roller dial for the dimmness setting of the guages (maybe you know this? it's to the left of the steering wheel) in any case if you roll it all the way up it clicks into a detent - that will be max bright... perhaps this isn't your issue, but believe it or not - i've seen it asked before.
best of luck.

its not that because when i turn it up all the way
half the stuff doesn't light up
like half the gas will be really bright but the middle part will be blank like its burnt out bulbs or something which its not.

that sounds quite odd, i mean the bulbs are wired in parallel (ie: when one burns out all the rest don't stop working as they would if it were in series) so they should technically all be putting out the same brightness, unless someone used some wrong/different bulbs.... i'd pull out the cluster and fiddle with it while it's removed. it's a seperate cluster then the one you're talking about... but I know the speedo cluster prior to EL gauges sucked the big one, because the plastic deteriates over time, so then some bulbs don't click into there detent so they aren't actually making contact with that trace circuit... i got one out on my rpm bugs the hell out of me.

give an answer if you figure it out.. had to go thru the dimmer dial speil just incase it was something you had missed. \-:

failing all that, you could always buy the gas/temp/indication cluster on ebay i've seen them from time to time. maybe you'll get one with the smoky cat. sweet.

i did buy a new gas/temp gauge and its the same thing
so im thinking its some wiring or possibly the relay
sometimes it flashes bright and dimming then sometimes it stays bright
its weird....
