Anybody experience this on a newer Honda bike? I have an 01 CBR929. Took it out for a ride after it has been sitting for a month due to the rainy weather! Went down the street and the bike choked a bit and then just took off!! Let off the throttle and it kept going. I then put the clutch in and braked slamming into the back of one of my buddies. It just broke his tail light...luckily!! But, it slammed the bike down and I barely made it off with enough time to get my leg out of the way as it slammed down on my hip and elbow. The bike is ok thanks to the frame sliders. Just needs a new stator cover and probably a front cowl as it is cracked. The handlbar broke a bit but I can live with that. I am glad this happened at only about 30mph!!!

Re: Stuck throttle (GearSpeedEF9)
so your throttle plates are stuck open. remove your tank, followed by Air Box removal. i have never worked on a 929 (i have a 99' 900RR) but you shouldn't have much trouble finding the prob. if your tank is anything like mine, the fuel lines are very short so you may need to pinch the lines and remove the tank from the bike. too bad my bike isn't like GSXRs where the tank swings up, are the NEW honds like that? after getting the gas tank out of the way remove the air box. you will then see the throttle linkage and plates get some cleaner (carb cleaner) and chain lube (NOT WD40). spray the area with the cleaner and try to free up the plates. also clean of dirt at both ends of the cable. after its moving again and moving smooth. spray the ends of the cable with the chain lube. this will keep you cable lasting longer. let me know if it works.

Re: Stuck throttle (GearSpeedEF9)
Better check the grips and make sure that the throtttle isn't bein bound up by them hiting/sticking on the switchgear.

Kill switch - gotta get that to be a reflex action

Glad thins seem ta be OK though.
