Default Patch a flat tire?

I've heard you shouldn't ride on a patched tire, also heard that it wouldn't matter too much. What do you guys think?

It all depends, some people say dont gamble with your life over $100. My philosophy is if you patch it correctly you shouldnt have a problem. That is taking off the tire and patching and plugging it from the inside.

Guys around here will "plug" a tire like 5-6 times and not have any problems and they wheelie like crazy with no problems yet in the liftime of years riding doing this. Some other guys don't chance it though but it all depends on how much tread to me. I don't know if you were asking about pates or plugs so i posted anyway. Sorry if I was wrong just some info

I guess as long as the patch was done properly it really wouldn't matter.

But if you asking ME if I would use one? Never. I'd rather buy a new tire and feel safer.

Plugs are a NO-NO in my book. Too easy to have the plug shoot out and then you got another flat.

I spend a little more on my tires so if I ever get a nail or some type of tire failure I get a new tire for free. Just as long as its not too worn and have to pay for mount and balance. Ive gone through 2 tires with in a couple of months due to nails and it would have normally cost me about 300 for 2 rear tires but all I paid was 24 bucks.

get a new tire...or go to a local race shop and get a race take off for cheap. Dont trust your life and the life of your bike on a cheap fix.

I would put a plug in it and call it a day if you still have alot of life left on the tire. But if it is worn out just get a new one.

i plugged the rear tire on my SV650, but i havent ridden it hard since, nor have i taken it on any long rides. i'll probly replace it in the spring when i plan to ride it more often so i can ride it without worry.

I have seen patches work and never have a problem... I have seen plugs blow out the tread belt... but I have never seen either of these on my bikes, because I just replace the rear tire

Well I asked because I had a flat on the tire after 1000 miles on the bike, I put a new one on, and now it's ready to be changed. All good points made, I'd rather spend the $100 or so on a new tire and keep my equipment and myself safe. Thanks

Their prices suck so try to find a 15% off coupon they give out once in a while.
