Default Ode to a Tool - A Rant

It’s very rare that I'll make a thread and even rarer that I'll make a thread to rant. There are plenty of other threads for me to bitch about one thing or another in but this guy deserves his own thread.

So I had a teleconference at 8 this morning with some folks over in Europe. After the meeting I'm sitting in the conference room catching up on good ole HT before I head back to my building to do actually do some work. A guy, who is there for a 10 am that doesn't start for another half hour, walks in and sits down next to me. He wants to be my best friend so I figure he's just a lonely techie and decide it couldn't hurt to have a chat.

After we exchange the usual pleasantries we go back to doing whatever we're doing on our respective laptops. About two minutes later, as I'm catching up on Ross' new bike thread, I can feel him looking over my shoulder. Then he says, "I see you like being an organ donor." I begrudgingly agreed with him but informed him it wasn't even my bike that was pictured all the while cursing him in the back of my mind. He then goes into this pseudo-interested inquiry about what I ride and what's it like and how's it sound... blah... blah.... blah.

First, stop looking over my damn shoulder. Second, this dumas doesn't even know if I ride. I could be enjoying the beauty of a bike or could be looking at something a friend sent me without even being even remotely interested in bikes. Third, who the hell "enjoys" being an organ donor? Bikers may not have a problem with it but it's not like anyone, biker or not, actually gets enjoyment out of it. No one even knows they're actively participating in organ donation unless someone in the afterlife tells them. Finally, don't patronize me about my interests when it's very clear you not only don't have an interest but actually look down on those that do. It just makes you seem more retarded for trying to talk about something you know nothing about. For the record, I've had a conversation with the same guy how my $400 digital camera can take pictures just as powerful as my $4000 dSLR. He's convinced that the more expensive camera and bits make the photographer when anyone who knows half a ******* about photography will tell you otherwise.

Some people just shouldn't be allowed the ability of independent thought. Stupid rant, I know. Deal with it.

What do you do exactly?

I don't understand why people hate on motorcycling so much...I'm a senior in high school and I get nothing but eProps for it from kids I either: never talk to or even would talk to. Maybe it's an adult thing...or maybe he's had a bad experience (Close friend/relative died or something...or he could just be a *****)

Concerning the camera thing...I read that 'Photography Reference' article in your sig a few months ago and I love it. Amazing how 50+ years ago Ansel Adams could take breath taking photos with God knows how bad of a camera...now...we have cameras with all kinds of technology and people can't TOUCH Ansel...Oh well.

Thanks, compared to all these other guys, I feel like I started late! Everyone else has like 30k miles under their belts, but then again a lot of you are like 20 something haha.

I start riding about a year ago on a Ninja 250

<------ Late bloomer

I crunch usage/quality metrics (numbers) for a large ISP.

I can't imagine how deadly a weapon a bike in HS is. I would have either killed myself from immaturity or gotten a girl pregnant because I was pimpin' the bike so much.

+1 I'm glad I took my time to get one and well that parents made me wait. In high school I sped fast enough in the car. On a bike I'd be going faster.... That and true about the pimpin thing. It's hard enough to kick the girls off in college. can't imagine high school
