Yeah they make all different kinds of exhauts for bikes, if it's carbd you can put in a jet kit to make more power, if it's FI you can add a power commander, it's an internal combustion motor so you can pretty much do whatever you want. Turbo, nitrous whatever.

Pretty much anything you can do to a car, you can do to a bike.

Cams, gears, bore, turbo, supercharge, nitrous, re-map FI, stretch, lower, wheels, frames, bodywork, titanium, carbon fiber, paint, and the list goes on.

It's all relative - it's only $.

Zactly - stock 600's are already faster than 95% of production cars out there and yer margin for error is also bout 95% less.

Try 100%. I have never seen even an exotic run 10 second 1/4s stock.

Odd, I didn't know the 1/4 was the sole measure of speed.

to piggyback what everyone else said, there are many ways to modify a bike; ranging from exhaust, Vstacks, power commander, jet kit, even turbo and nitrous.

your wisest investment would be track time. nothing makes up for experience.

Decide what your budget is first... if you can get a 1000, throw on a pipe and a pcIII and you'll be pushing over 150hp. Once you learn how to ride, you'll be in the 9s. If you need to go faster, then buy a pos and turn it into a track bike. Dont' become a statistic because you can drag and beat everyone on the street. This isnt why streetbikes were invented.

If you can only afford a 600, do the same mods and you'll be mid to low 10s. I would recommend a stock 1000 over a modded six if you have riding experience. The torque and power delivery is a lot stronger and not for the novice rider.

Here is one good web site

http://cbrworld.net/global/cbrworld.asp

Check out the forums, here you can learn alot...
http://forums.cbrworld.net/

As far as modifications, if you have a few hundred bucks to spend and your bike is Fuel Injected...
Power Commander 3
Full Exhaust (or a slip on..cheaper)
Aftermarket air filter (like K & N)

Not Fuel Injected
Jet Kit
Full Exhaust

Track time would be good to, but it's pricey, I never did it, but next bike I get, I will definetely set aside some $ for that.

Good luck

its not even rider skill anymore. pretty much any 600 newer then 98 will run 10's stock. as far as moding a bike its all the same as cars. there is so much as far as aftermarket for bikes its unbelievable. people are startin to build some really sick street bikes man. busa turbos running 22lbs on pump with a thicker head gasket and nitrous on top of that. ive seen this bike run 8.20 in the 1/4 at almost 200

ur right the 1/4 isnt the only way to measure speed i have seen some really sick street cars. i build a single turbo supra for my friend and he takes me in pretty much ever race. i pull on him at first but once he gets boost its pretty much over.

depends what your goals are... unless you are in absolute luv w/ that bike, sell it for a more modern fuel injection 600

for hp - like everyone else said, exhaust, k&n, powercommander (for fi bikes, jet kits for carbs)

the thing is... most all modern street bikes - thats it for hp - unless you want to get really really nuts - and even then there are only major parts for busa's - w/ the exception of velocity stacks for new yamaha's - these bikes now a days are so fast out of the box both 1/4 miles and top speed that there isnt much more you could want/ need on the street - hell the 1000rr and new r1 shift into second at 95/100mph - thats a ticket in any state, and you still have 5 more gears to go!
