I'm assuming you tried wearing the jacket, and it fits perfectly? If not, it doesn't matter if it's almost new or what brand it is.

Try it on first then get back to us. Fitment is very important

Spidi is pretty reputable. My personal preference is for Joe Rocket. The most important aspect is that the jacket fits you comfortably, beyond any name-brand. You should also be aware of what armor the jacket has (or doesn't have!). Check to see that the armor will not slide around if you should meet the pavement.

In that case, try it on yourself and tell him to save his opinion. Is there a reason you should trust this guy? How well do you know him?

make sure it's more leather than silver

seriously though make sure that #1: it fits and #2: it's not just occasional areas of thin looking leather. think of leather as skin...the only skin that will not get ripped up when you crash.

Spidi makes pretty quality stuff, italian after all...
Personally I prefer Dainese, but everyone has there own oppinion. $100 is ungodly cheap for a motorcycle jacket of any sort, but like others said, the fit is the most important thing-it should be really tight.

Spidi is Italain and tends to fit smaller people with a short torso. Great jackets especially if you are shorter and stocky. Thats what i gathered from trying them on anyway.

I have a Spidi two piece (Norick), they make good stuff. Just like the others said, fitment is what you should be concerned with. Make sure it fits you kinda tight and that the armor in the jacket (if it has any) does not move around to much. HTH

That's just how all the italian jackets are made (other than Alpinestar). I love dainese jackets, but they all look like glam-rock shorty jackets on me.

Don't forget to actually get on a bike or in riding position. **** doesn't fit the same way standing as it does riding. And Spidi is I have Spidi, Dainese and Alpinestars gear now. Had Joe Rocket and cheaper and have never looked back. In hindsite, if I hadn't had that cheap crap I wouldn't appreciate the difference now. Also if I didn't get a dainese suit I would never know the difference. It's not just hype or brand/style/culture. There is a huge difference.
