Hate the squid comments
I have been riding motorcycles since age 8, dirtbikes until I was 16, and both street bikes and dirt bikes from 16 to now at 23. I hate when old timers or people who think they are much more capable of handling a bike call you a squid. I have never wrecked a street bike, I have never been in an accident. And hopefully never will. In las vegas your a dumbass to ride in full leathers on a summer afternoon. Even if you wrecked the hot *** asphalt would eat right through your leathers so there is no point. Usually it is middle age guys who need a bike to prove to there wives they are still manly, and can't handle a 20 something yr old kid riding the same thing they are or better. Get over it and shut your face.
It can get hot in the summers but if I had a bike, I rather not ride than ride without some leather, and I rather the hot asphalt eat away at my leather first before it gets to my skin than directly onto my skin, which parts are you from anyways?
hot asphalt eating through leathers? What kind of leathers are you buying? I can understand your point but you're not helping yourself at all w/ that argument

Why not douse or dunk your shirt with water and then go riding? And use a handkerchief, also dunked in water, around your neck. Besides, where are you riding? Down the strip? Everywhere else should allow you to ride constantly so that enough airflow is going through your leathers.

I sense...issues. Do you feel like you need to prove something to older men? Perhaps you never lived up to your dad's expectations. Look, I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but the whole "I don't want to be labeled as a squid" thing is not that big of a deal. What it comes down to is, Do you consider yourself a squid? No? Then just ignore them! They're probably just jealous that you're still young and could survive a crash, whereas for them that would be the end of their riding "career."

Hahahaha that's what I was thinking when I read it too. BTW wouldn't you rather have leathers to slow you down a bit before the asphalt eats away at your skin?

ok first off, what kind of cheap leathers have you seen? cause most leathers will just be scratched up, some might rip at seams, or lil holes but thats the most I've seen. Better than getting skin graphs and having nurses scrub your road rash w/ brushes to clean them. But hey go ahead and just lose your skin wtf do I care, your body and your pain. Whats next? helmet too hot for you too?

better bike doesnt mean better rider. hell guys on 600 with more skill can take out other riders on 1 liter bikes. Most people you see on the street will never even push the bike anywhere close to its full potential. Most are in it for the poser factor (looking good and having a nice bike, but not being able to ride good) and from the looking like a dumbass in leathers comment and how you're comparing bikes, not rider ability, seem like you fall under this category too.

Eh this squid crap is overboard... I think the single biggest factor that makes someone a squid is there poor judgement while riding, not the gear they wear. In the summer time I ride in a tee shirt and shorts around town, but if I'm going on a highway/main road I wear my light Joe Rocket jacket and jeans. On highway trips full leather jacket and heavy jeans. People are just as stupid on bikes as they are in cars, only the danger is amplified on bikes. Ride safe and stay in one piece...

Personally I think a squid who isn't that great of a rider, and goes out and buys top of the line, brand new stuff, and thinks that hauls around town like a maniac, thinking that he is a good rider because he or she rides a sweet bike. That website was complete BS. There were some things on there that I think a lot of people are guilty of a lot of times, but that doesn't make them anywhere near a squid. How does polishing your frame, or adding liking carbon fiber parts make you a squid? That is just silly, some people like a polished look. Personally I think it is very sharp looking, and why wouldn't you want your bike to look nice?

Seriously, what type of leathers have you been purchasing? Let me know so that way the consumer can avoid them.
