Finally got IT!
So the most of you who have read my posts know that I was in the process of buying a bike.... So I did finally get it. Is a 2003 Honda CBR600rr. I had to ride it from pretty far away, at first I was kind of scared but after a while I was like hell yeah. Funny thing... so last night I got out of work and was riding back to my apt when all of a sudden the bike starts chocking and stops running so I'm like WTF! This is happening just as I'm pulling to my apt complex.... lm scared it was the oil since the guy told me to change it... Come to find out I was riding on empty the whole time and gas had ran out. This has never happened in my life... can't believe it. So my roommate gave me a ride to the gas station and filled her up when I got back. First question, what should you look for in a bike as far as services and to keep it running good? The guy told me oil changes and to make sure the chain is lubed... How do you tell if the chain is lubed or not? I know there most be a DIY on how to do an oil change somewhere... I've done oil changes before on all my cars but never on a bike. The guy told me the hard thing is to get to the oil filter... since is under the tank... Can you guys give me a link? I have to go to work and I thought I would let you guys know about my new bike... That's why I can't look for the DIY right now... appreciate it.... Thanks
600rr has a gas GAUGE AND a warning light
try looking at your gauges once in a while
the oil is super easy to change i can do the filter without touching any plastics or the header

The o-ring chains are already lubricated, so you can't really lube the inside of the o-rings. What you're doing is cleaning the gunk off the chain and keeping the outside part of the o-rings from drying up. I clean/lube my chain every thousand miles.
I dont understand why people have no idea how to maintain a motorcycle. (I am not talking about you OP, just people in general) It is JUST LIKE a car but instead of axels, its a chain and sprockets. Oil/Filter should be changed regularly (see manual for optimal change periods). Chain should be lubed every 500 miles or so or once a week, spark plugs, and air filter (see manual). Its all just the basic stuff nothing really special. If you dont have the owners manual go buy a Clymer manual for your bike, it was the best $20 Ive spent on my bike. To the OP
for a nice bike, be safe and dont ride over your head.

when i buy a bike, i change the oil/filter, spark plugs, lube/clean the chain, clean/replace air filter. if the filter's new when i inspect it, and the spark plugs are new, then i'll skip those.
congrats! yeah, running out of gas sucks
. remember to calculate what your average range is and use that to determine when you fill up, vs. using the gas guage/low fuel light.
