Is it hard to change to a manual cct? What all do i need to take off to do this. I just bought a manual ape cct cause mine was starting to get worse. Thanks

Re: changing CCT (BoostedSi)
Its a bitch for the F4is and i think the f4's are just slightly easier. The main problem is getting a good grip on the two bolts. You have to take the tank off and go in above the frame. Pieces you need include a long extension, ratchet, and I believe a 10mm socket. Check cbr forums for the directions for the f4, they're pretty good.

Re: changing CCT (BoostedSi)
sounds like its an *** to change it out for the f4i. Gotta remove the tank, instead of propping it out in front. You gotta take the tank off to install it and then remove the tank again to adjust it...terrible.

Re: changing CCT (BoostedSi)
ive never understood the big deal about removing tanks... on my f4 its like 4 bolts... takes ten minutes max... the whole cct job should take you no more than 2 hours...just dont bolt down the tank before you adjust it... just dont pay anyone to do it..its easy-just be patient when doing it

What about the gas in the tank....how do you drain it so it doesnt spill out everywhere? Do you just let it get on the reserve then remove the tank?

Re: changing CCT (BoostedSi)
well i dont know about the f4i... but the f4 has a shutoff valve on the bottom of the tank... with that valve shutoff you can safly take the hose off the tank and only a little bit if gas will leak out (whatevers left in the hose)

The f4i doesent have a shut off valve...my buddy just did his. So when you disconect the fuel line put your finger over the line and flip it over.

Easier said that done... run the bike until empty, I ran my down to 1 bar blinking on reserve and there was still at least a gallon or more in there when it was draining/spilling in my garage. I couldn't get a wrench on the cct withouth what I thought would strip the heads so I put it all back together. Be careful with pinching fuel lines on the reinstall also.

Re: (BoostedSi)
I had to take my gas tank off to change my air filter and it wasn't that bad, only took me about 40 mins to change to K&N filter, it you ride it low and kink your gas line i think it should be fine, but i dunno for sure, that was on a ZX-7 =p and their grossly obsolete pigs. hah

Re: (qwksi1)
The CCT isnt that hard to do, just make sure you have little midget fingers and you'll knock an hour off the job
Took me about 3 hours, mostly do to me cussing at my big hands for not fitting into small places and not having a wrench with an elbow...
Look online and you can find countless tutorials with detailed descriptions.
Also, check out http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/ thats where I read how to do it

Re: (pondo)
every japanese bike/car/truck should come with its own little japanese mechanic . . . I used to work for nissan, and I could never get my hands anywhere without first taking everything apart . . . especially on 300z's . . .

Re: (slylos)
Yea, i've pretty much read all about how to do them on sportbikes.net. Only now i just dont feel like doing it. My hands arent small but i'm sure i can work into it...used to be able to get my hands in really tight spaces when working on my turbo honda. Too bad i came out with a **** load of cuts while at it
