Chaging problem, please help
My 98 gixxer has a charging problem. It all started over a month ago when I was pulling in my driveway and I noticed my RPM's were out and my speedo wasn't working. I was like, "wtf." So I took it around my neighborhood and it kept coming in and out. Then my odometer and my milage went out. Then, the bike died. I was stuck in my neighborhood and it wouldn't start. After about 10 minutes it started and died right when I got back to my driveway.
Now, I took it to Suzuiki about 3 weeks ago and the said it was a fried wire harness, that they saudered (spelling) back together. It rode good for a week, then I was down in St. Augustine on July 4th. Same results, it died again. I'm not smelling anything melting at all, and it charged up after half and hour to make it back 10 miles, then I had to get picked up.
Could it be my stator? Could it be my rectifier? Do I need a new wire harness? I took it back to suzuki but i'm still like "wtf..."
Any help, please? Thanks

try this once you turn your bike on rev in up to 5000 RPM check the charge make sure in holds at 13-14 volts. If not its battery or alternator related it looks like your bike is not keeping its charge. A new battery is not expensive and will eliminate most problems but if the new battery does the same thing you know you need a new stator windings which is called an alternator. Older Suzukis used to have crap regulator/rectifiers but I havent heard of new ones being bad.
Either way if the bike shop sold hyou a harness and it hasnt fixed it I'd be wanting some explanations from them. I am sure you can measure the windings, maybe its in the manual. As for the rectifier etc unless there is a fault code it is going to be difficult.
Go find a workshop manual, that will help you out as it has diagnositc flow charts.

Thanks Luke, they saudered my wire lines from my rectifier. I'm on my 2nd new battery. It's not that. It's in the shop now, so I will wait to see what they say again.
