Default boot sizing question

Well I went and tried on motorcycle boots tonight because I just didn't think the hiking boots were cutting it. I'm a size 9 and I'm just looking for a casual boot for commuting, and running around town. Well the shop I went to the only thing that was even close to my size was the Setup Vision boot.

Now I have a question I tried on a size 43 and while the bottom felt ok it still didn't feel all that tight. I also didn't like how it was loose on the top because truthfully i'm going to be wearing a set of jeans over top of the boots.

I'm wondering if maybe I should drop down to a size 42 they didn't have any and I really couldn't find a dealer around me that carried either Sidi or Setup boots besides this one.

I'm looking at the Sidi Champion Air boots of the Setup Pegaso vented. If anyone else has any suggestions feel free to throw them out there.

Many of these boots will be loose on top because they were designed to be worn with the leathers (or jeans, I guess) to be tucked in. Dainese makes some boots that fit closer on top so your leathers can be worn over the boot.

I'm am also a size 9 and just bought a pair of Sidi Vertigos in a 43 which is apparently a US 9.5. They fit perfect with a pair a thick hiking socks. If I had to do it again, I'd get a size 43 because I suspect size 42 would probably be to tight as they are an US 8.5.

The upper part of the Vertigos are adjustable and I can cinch them down pretty tight under my jeans.

HTH.
