I have a 2009 Honda Fit... The front passenger power window switch has broken in the on position so the motor will attempt to close and trip on overload because it's already closed... I have two questions... How do I access this switch? I was looking at it earlier today and was thinking that I might be able to pry open the side and top of the armrest that houses the switch... Am I right? The second question... Where can I buy a switch assembly? Amazon has CRX and Accord switches that look similar but I don't want to take the chance by guessing... Thanks in advance for any and all responses...
You use a plastic pry tool near the front of the arm rest. You can see the actual clip. You press it in then pull the front lower section away from the arm rests. The rest will pull off. Install starts from the back.
You can disconnect the electrical connection at this point.
The manual says the whole door panel needs to come off. Once you pull that arm rest cover, there's a single screw under there. Then you take the screw out of the door opener. You slide the whole door opener forward about 1" then pull it away from the door. It'll hang on some cables. Then you have to start from the bottom and pry the door panel away from the door. I used a large plastic body tool. The clips were tight.
When they're all pulled loose you pull the bottom out, then press up, to detach it from the upper part of the window.
Turn and feed the door handle through the door handle hole.
Then you flip over the door panel and take all the screws out. This will release the switch part of the door. Then you have to flip open the handle, It starts from the back. Then you can unscrew and replace the switch.
I'd either order one from Honda or a used one from Ebay.
I had all my doors apart installing sound deadener last week so, the job is pretty fresh in my mind.
