MP3 connectivity?
Forgive what may be a repeat question; I'm a newbie (just bought the car yesterday) and still bewildered by this issue.
I've seen one or two threads here addressing this problem, but all of the solutions suggested seem to involve a lot of complex Do-It-Yourself handiwork. That's great for some, but as someone who isn't nimble, doesn't have a soldering gun and isn't a tech head, I was wondering if Honda offers any alternatives -- even if they're a little more expensive.
Will they upgrade a base sound system to a Sport sound system?
Or will they install a device to add an AUX port to the vehicle so that I can simply run my iPod off it? (I don't actually care if I can control the iPod through the stereo, just as long as I don't have to rely on those wireless transmitters which are generally so poor, especially in urban areas.)
Also, what is Honda MusicLink? Is this something I can avail myself of or is this simply for Sport models?
I must say that for a vehicle with such strong youth appeal, it strikes me as very peculiar that Honda did not see "fit" to equip this model with an MP3 connection. What were they thinking??

But you have a Base model and the Sport model has the Aux connection for an mp3 player PLUS the head unit reads mp3 discs with IDE tag information. And the Sport isn't that much more than the Base.
I don't know if a dealership would switch your base stereo to the Sport system or not. And I don't really know what the technical differences are other than the Sport system is 200-watts instead of 160-watts and the head unit reads mp3 discs and shows IDE tag information. So, as far as cost vs. benefit of that, I'm not sure it would be worth it.
From H and A you can get this:

It is an mp3 interface that will connect and charge your iPod. Pretty much the only thing this does not do is display the information from your iPod onto the display of the base model radio.

Thanks, Suzuka,
I was hoping to find a solution that didn't require me to yank the stereo out, as this does, but I'm getting the impression that that may be my only option. I'm just a bit of a klutz when it comes to this sort of DIY gadgetry, so I'm hesitant to take the plunge.
Anyway, I appreciate the input. If anyone else has any other ideas, I'm happy to entertain them.
Thanks.
