Default "engine replacement"

A spark plug was "blown" out of my engine - Honda Fit Sport 2009 with 160,000 miles ...

My local mechanic wants $3,600 to disassemble the head and basically do a service while he's addressing the ruined hole for the spark plug ... or $3,500 to swap the motor for one with 77k miles.

My mechanic also said he'd charge $800 if I provide a "fully assembled" motor ...

At first I thought this last option was the way to go. Two or three companies I found online sell a fully assembled motor for $1,000 which includes shipping and cost to return the old motor. HOWEVER after a bit of research I have CONCERNS:
- Engine and Transmission World and www.qualityusedengines.com appear to the be same company even though they are in different parts of the country. Almost 100% of the reviews I read are BAD, BAD, BAD and their 5 year 50,000 mile parts and labor warranty are so restrictive and limiting I do not see any value to it.
- POWERTRAIN PRODUCTS INC in Stevensville, MD 21666 has a few BAD ratings, but on the BBB they actually have a lot more positive ratings than bad.

Do any of you have experince with these companies, or can you recommend a company with verifiable positive reviews?

Go to www.car-part.com and look for local salvage yards that would have a 2009 Fit engine for you.

Thanks, oddly enough, the listings in my area are out of date ... 4 out of 4 within 2 hour driving distance sold the engines 1 to 4 months ago. Handy website, hopefully I will be able to use it for something else someday!

Back to my question ... Do any of you have experience with companies selling engine assemblies (salvage or Japanese direct), or can you recommend a company with verifiable positive reviews? The www.car-part.com website is not a specific company, it's a type of marketplace. So far it doesn't appear anyone has replaced their engines?

Ebay has plenty of used engines. LKQ is one of the largest used engine suppliers.
