Default 91 Civic Cable Clutch Wont Disengage

Ive been having issues with my honda civic hatchback since i got it. I ended up replacing the tranny, clutch and starter all within the first 1000 miles. Im now having an issue with my cable clutch that i cannot seem to figure out. The clutch input switch broke around the same time as the clutch stopped disengaging but im not sure that theyre related issues. Basically, the clutch will not fully disengage, it does however work okayish on downhills. Ive tried adjusting the clutch pedal but have backed out the adjusting bolt fully and the pedal height remains at 5.5 inches instead of the 7.8 it is supposed to be at. Ive tightened the cable nut near the tranny as much as i can by hand but then the clutch fork has no play. I took it to my local guy who said the cable had stretched out too much so i put a new one in and the issues are all the same. What do you guys think it could be? Im worried that the issue is in the tranny. Maybe my throw out bearing went bad( its only 3k old though)? Im at a loss and ready to junk this piece of work.

i might be able to figure out the problem
let me just go thru a few things

1st when you press the clutch pedal is it stiff?
or does it feel like a normal car ?

2nd you should loosen the rubber nut at the trans cable this would disengage
the clutch a little and let the arm it holds to drop a little and fix your problem

now to set it up properly heres the basic way to do so
loosen it all the way and then with the car on tighten a full turn and see if your gears go in and if not
then keep tightening the nut untill the gears start to go in with the car ON and clutch pedal pressed
it doesnt matter how tight the cable gets
at first the gears will start to go in with force and then after a few more turns they will start to go it with ease
once reverse goes in with ease thats when you adjustment is perfect

3rd the adjustment at the clutch pedal is only for the clutch switch
so that adjustment should only be so the the pedal presses the switch button down all the way and thats all
once your in the sweet spot then use the locking nuts and call it a day

let me know how it goes

Well i tried tigthening the nut until the car goes into gear while its on and the car ran smoothly for about a mile and then the problem came back. The clutch wont disengage again and ive tightened the nut nearly to the end of the cable. Is there an issue you can think of that would be causing the cable to overwork? Im worried its a transmission issue again. The release fork has zero play unless the cable is completely slack.

thats bad news
it sounds like a clutch pressure plate thats going bad

alright if you look at your cable thats tightened all the way right now
is the little rubber bushing all flattened ?
if so then its looking like a pressure plate problem
and to fix it you would have to remove the trans sadly

or!!!
you can cheat and add some spacers where the rubber bushing is on your cable
and once you add some washers or something then youll have more adjustment again at the cable
it just might work
and worth a try before removing the trans
