Default Quick simple question about hatchbacks

I know with the 4G4Ds the body pieces from 88-91 are pretty much the same. Is this the same for hatchbacks?

My friend has a 88 Civic Hatchback and needs a new fender. I found a 91 in the junkyard. With it fit?

Thanks in advance for not flaming my simple question.

Yeah it fits..But the corner lights are different..So take the lights from it as well

Also the molding is different

What years will fit perfectly? 89? 90?

Or should I perhaps find a right AND left fender and replace them both just to make sure it fits? (along with the lights, of course)

I would get both of them. The 90-91 has a cleaner look in my opinion.

88-89 will fit perfectly ..Just get the right year fender other wise you'll have real thick molding with a little valley in it from the door back and real thin molding on the fender,,

with the light, it's just the little clips in it. the fender is the same throughout the years. the molding is different, but that just clips on, too. no matter if you have the old molding off the other fender.

rather than trying to find the same year, i'd try to find the same color.
