So I made a full tuck harness a couple months ago for my 89 Sedan dpfi. After going through the wiring (I moved all of the drivers side wiring to the passenger side to plug into the tuck harness) I have a green/black wire left over. According to my service manual, the green/black wire from the drivers side shock tower is for the main relay. What I cant understand is the wire goes into the plug on the firewall side of the harness, but doesnt come out of the engine harness side. Where the wire should be there's just a black plug from the factory. What should I do with this wire?

correct - the green/black wire is for the back-up lights on the DX manual transmission cars - looks like you have a DX automatic engine harness - the automatic back-up light wire is at the shifter

 

the car was an auto lx converted to manual. your theory sounds correct because the auto transmission lock up solenoid wire would be the other reverse wire in a manual car
