difference in clutch 88-90 vs. 90-91
i dont understand why i see the clutches advertised such as crx clutch 88-90 or 90-91.
are the transmissions also different?
im kinda new on the whole ef line. someone please explain this for me real quick.

actually it should be 88, then 89-91 only reason is that the flywheel on 88 has less splines then the 89+...but if you use an 89+ flywheel then you can use 89+ clutch.

The input shafts on the 88s were different, so you can't mate an 88 clutch up to a 89 tranny....
Flywheel only determines which clutch SIZE you could use. Some del sols have the smaller clutch disc for some reason (but have the correct splines to mate to the newer 89+ clutch discs)
Also, I think the 88 clutches were also physically smaller at ~ 7 and 7/8" on the disc material whereas the 89+ clutches were in the 8 3/8 range.

yeah that table is pretty good. when i did the Z6 in my 89 CRX SI i used the flywheel from the Z6 and bought a clutch kit for the Z6 for an "upgraded" clutch feel. i guess you can kind of compare the sizing to upgrading your brakes to a larger size, more surface area, more grip.

so as long as u have the same clutch and flywheel from the same year then u can use that on any honda dseries cable tranny?

You can also use the larger 1990-1991 flywheel with a 1988 transmission if you use a 3G Accord clutch disk.
