Default window motor assembly

2002 Honda CRV: I have been checking a few things with my car ( a few threads below) and in checking a few connections I noticed the connection under the assembly that holds the window operation buttons the connection seems weird. Nothing I can see has been worked with. The connection (green) has two part, the bottom with wiring harness going to supply and window motors, the top goes the the operation buttons, up or down.

When I looked the first time the connection was very hard to fit back together, not enough room for fingers to manipulate. There seemed to be tape around it so I figured someone must have been inside before and had the connection problem, and used tape to hold them together,
I had not checked to see if it was held by a clip. Today I had time to do a more thorough check, but came up dry for what I was seeking. In replacing all I could not get the connection to fit. What seems weird is that the wiring harness and bottom connection seems bit too short to reach the connection to get them connected properly.

The other time I tried connecting g the connection both pieces were hard to work with in regards to space and I put in in hoping, and it must have made some contact because all worked fine. I do not want to keep removing and replacing the door panel because in my experience the clip holding such panels in keep breaking.
