Timing at idle?
Hey all,
I just bought a Blue Driver OBDII Scan Tool and real time reader. So I just walked and scanned both of my vehicles a 2004 Accord 2.4L & 2006 CR-V 2.4L. The accord held a consistent timing advance at 6 degrees positive but the CR-V timing advance went back and forth between 1 & 9 degrees positive. I feel like this is either a wore timing chain or tensioner or both. Can someone please tell me that Im crazy and the vehicle is perfect shape and Ill have no money to spend...
Thanks,
-Drew

Did you check the idle RPM “warm engine” before checking ignition timing.
On the 2 litre engines over here, the ignition timing is>>> 8+/- 2 degrees BTDC
You might want to consider doing a static timing check.

Base timing is mechanical timing (distributor position) of the engine without the cars Engine Control Module (the ECM or "computer) interacting with the engine timing circuit.
