Age.

 

Its a 1997 CRV, old rubber bushings degrade over time. Its a wear and tear item that requires inspection and replacement as needed. Do not be surprised.

should all four be replaced? i assume it has four!

 

If the webbing is ripped, it's not that big of a deal. You should fix it, but it's not a panic. Probably 90% of the Hondas this age are driving around with a torn web or two. There are 2 mounts. The parts are aftermarket and pretty common. Anybody can replace them in less than an hour. I would guess around 160 in Canadia?

DO NOT go to the solid mounts on a daily driver if you value a quiet vibration free ride. Those mounts will drive you insane with the dash rattles and vibrations.
