Default ECU Rewrite program (where to find)

Hi,

I need to get a used ECU to replace my 2004 Honda crvs ECU. I am being told the VIN has to be rewritten to match my cars VIN.

Any programs or tools out there that can help me?

That’s a dealer job, or a shop with the proper computer equipment. Can’t do it yourself.

Why do you need a new ecu?

Ah good to know.

After extensive testing, my mechanic thinks there is something wrong with the ECU and the fuse/part responsible for communicating with the battery light/charging system.

We essentially replaced the alternator four times, checked and replaced fuses, checked for parasitic draws, wiring is good. It is charging fine and I have been driving with a battery light for a month without issue, even with AC/radio on. I also have a multimeter in the cigarette socket to tell me the voltage of the alternator and battery.

Here is a link to my post earlier this month: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-...n-off-3364822/

Any thoughts?

Probably not the ECU but the MICU that is the under dash fuse panel.

Any chance you have a video that would help me to do this? I am assuming it would be programming my original keys to the new ECU? I am not sure what to write in youtube for more info/help.

the immobilizer in the ecu needs to be matched to the keys. Autel ap200 worked for me.

Can confirm, no issues with Autel programming immobilizer stuff on the Hondas.

Replacing ECU on some vehicles can be done by swapping in the original ROM that has all the programming in it.
