Just purchased a 1998 CRV, AWD, 195k, auto transmission with a suspected bad tranny (only paid $200 for the car!). It drives OK and shifts OK (albeit with some rear end noise) with the rear driveshaft in place, but then I removed the driveshaft and when I shift into drive or reverse, nothing happens. So it looks like it only works in rear wheel drive. Any advice on what part might be bad?
