Wiper delay install on a CX
Sorry if this is a simple topic (couldn't find an answer by searching) but have a question regarding installing a windshield wiper switch with intermittent delay in a CX. I just got a wiper stick (switch assembly..??) from a DX. The stick has switches for the rear hatch wiper (which I don't have) as well as intermittent/low/high positions for the wiper. When I installed the unit, I am only able to get low, high, and the washer to function. Intermittent doesn't work ....
The other strange thing is that when I press the stick downward, for the quick wipe, it no longer functions either. Is the intermittent relay not part of this stick? There is another plug in the stick that, I assume, was for rear wiper only. So I figure:
the additional plug also controls int wiping
OR
Some of the stick functions are malfunctioning?
Any advice?
Would a delay wiper stick (or whatever it is called) from a 4 dr work instead??

It sounds like the relay that came with the CX is missing a couple contacts compared to the DX.
Did the push down single wipe ever work? If it did and no longer does you might have a burnt contact. Then you would have to change the relay.
If you never had it and are missing options then I would look into a relay out of a dx.
Check to see if the relays are identical. Check by part number.
If you have a multi-meter take the relay out and read the print. Take the meter and set it on continuity. Attach the probes across normally closed contacts and you should hear a tone. Normally open should not tone. If there is a difference in any of them then the relay is bad.
Hope this helps.

Hmmm, good point. The quick wipe function used to work and now doesn't. Additionally, when I press down for quick wipe on the "new" stick, it gets stuck and I have to manually press it back up.
Then there must be some type of return spring that is locked up. That could be what is ruining your relay.
Fix the arm and then check out the relay.
I forgot to add that you might also have a stuck contact. They get fused together due to arcing.

I put intermittent wipers on my 93 cx. I used a switch off a EX civic no rear wiper. You will also need the relay to run the intermittent function, its located on the back of the fuse box. With out this relay you will only have high and low.
