Default Question for EG owners

I'm going to buy an EG hatch and restore it.

Currently i'm getting some basic parts I know i'll need such as exterior rubber and door seals, fender linings, new carpet, etc.

What do you find to be common parts in these cars that need to be replaced? I'm doing an engine swap, so no engine parts.

I was thinking of fuel lines, but I can't think of anything else.

Any suggestions of parts that may have worn down in the past 10-13 years that could stand replacement?

92 hatch here and still havent replaced anything... of course everything depends on the condition of the car you find, some might be good, some might be trash... might want to get new brakes, check all hoses, tires, and basically that kind of stuff

clutch master cylinder
clutch slave cylinder
brake master cylinder
brake lines
bleeding clutch and brakes
shocks+springs
upper control arms
tie rods
steering rack
ball joints
blah there are many things that can wear out and you start restoring your car to a fresh condition you start to notice many problems with the car

i bought my civic for 2 grand and I've already spent 2 grand on tune ups and replacing parts... this includes the parts and services for things such as replacing catback exhaust and other various replacement and tune up items.. but now it handles and drives almost like new and i would like to upgrade some of the parts with performance... and probably an engine swap along with a turbo... i'm planning on spending 10-15K depending on how far i wanna go... i expect it to drive like new as if i had gotten a custom car... only custom to my own needs and likes...

there are many little things that need replacing.. for example i'll be doing a clutch replacement in the next week or so.. i'll be putting a lighter flywheel 12lbs, a new clutch with pressure plate, replace clutch master cyl cuz it's leaking, replace clutch slave cylinder for good measures (got master and slave as a kit for cheaper) and replace the fluid... this should have the clutch system in almost a brand new state (except the hydraulic lines)..

i bought my eg for $200 with a blown motor, and outside of the motor i have only had to do maintenance. i have done suspension upgrades, though. i thought the stock suspension on my cx was lame and needed to go.

by the way, don't get aftermarket carpet. go oem, its the best fit by far.

I bought mine for 2850 and have spent about $10,000 on it. 4000 of that being replaced oem stuff, I feel like Im just getting started on my car....
some things that are pretty critical to replace on a 10-15 yr. old Eg:
-ball joints
-tie rods
-all bushings(polyurethane)(oem)
-struts, springs
-fuel filter
-rotors and pads

i would say that the window crank for the driver side are usually weak. another thing is the window clamps for the hatch where the shocks goes in. we had 6 hatches and they all had the same problem. cx's and dx's so just watch out for those things. another thing would be the driver seat. they tend to get rip on the left side.

Thanks for all the responses!

I never thought of the main relay. I'll definitely replace all brake lines and main parts when I get into the brakes (still deciding on brake kits or OEM)

I'm definitely doing some of the Prothane (sp?) brand bushings along with new OEM parts.

As for carpet...I found OEM carpet brand new for 340 shipped....so that's a

Thanks for all your help!

Bump for any other suggestions
