Re: What Spring Rates Do You Daily Drive on? (backseatDRIVER)

i used to ride on Skunk2 coilovers (400f/300r) and stock shocks. wasn't too bad on DD, and it handled pretty good. wouldn't mind getting another set. i think i'm going to try something stiffer though. probably GC's 500f/450r with Koni yellow's or KYB AGX's.

Just to throw this out, for a comfy ride on the roads, and performance in the corners, what about progressive springs? Doesnt this help a lot?

If i had the cash, id go with Tein. They seem to be the best of all worlds, except price.

Re: What Spring Rates Do You Daily Drive on? (Redline96LX)

I've got bilstein shocks and neuspeed race sprins in my eg6. It's pretty good for daily [our roads are pretty poorly maintained over here] but still not bad on the track. Japanese suspension tends to be pretty hard, a couple of friends have Ohlins and HKS suspension in their EK's and have to have them set on almost the softest setting for daily driving.

I drive 800 miles M-Th every week on Buddy Club RS with 500 front 550 rear ERS' https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Charbon Sty 11-11-2004 10:03 PM

F: 6kg
R: 8kg

IMO the perfect spring rate for daily driving/ spirited driving is around the 5-8kg mark. coupled with some good shocks

fishnfst 11-11-2004 10:52 PM

You want a good ride get the default ground control civic rates I think they are 375f and 250r. The biggest difference in your ride is going to be in the shocks though. It isn't really going to matter what spring rate you run if your shocks are blown..... I had been dd with 475f/550r on a koni/gc setup running the shocks at full soft. I think the 550's are getting close to the upper operating range of the Koni's. Currently I am running 400f/475r and it is definitely an easier ride. I think anything over the 475 in the back is starting to get a little heavy.

It also makes a difference what car you are running them in. 450 in the back of my old eg was pretty stiff. When I hit those steel plates on the bay bridge it felt like someone was punching you in the back. In my Ej now it feels suprisingly soft. Like previously stated I had 550's in the rear of my Ej for awhile and it still didn't seem as bad as the 450's in my eg.

Take it for whats its worth.....

Smooth Solid Sporty ride=default gc rates....
Stiff Tail Happy Good for Slalom not necessarily great for rr= get something custom rear biased....

This is the great thing about the gc setup. Look in the rr autox forum and there are a ton of different spring rates for sale.... You can tinker until your hearts content.

Suspension:
Apex N1 Pro - DC2-R Spring Rates

Chassis:
93 Civic HB

Pros:
Handles Great on a well maintained road, car drives like its on rails.

Cons:
Bumpy as hell b/c the suspension is too stiff for the light bodied CX. Not really happy with it but i got used to it.

Can someone tell me what spring rates i have?

i run comptech sport springs... 250f 180r. not stiff at all. nice upgrade over stock suspension on an ex civic though. paired with kyb agx, its very nice for an almost stock ride with superb handling

Tein HA for DC2-R on an EG hatch with 6k front 8k rear. Its a little bumpy, even with the shock set to full soft.

Im sure 6k and 8k springs with a softer valved shock, like the Tein SS is way better, much more daily driver friendly.

Further Honda Challenge H1 suspension is going to be 14-16k front and with 16-18k rear!

550f/700r custom ERS springrates. a little stiff for daily driving but perfect spirited night driving https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

a little uncomfortable in the streets but well worth it for the pros when in the mountains. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

drunknbass 11-16-2004 11:43 PM

i got some custom coilovers i sell. the sleeves are identical to ground control, but the srping rates are 350 and 450 and they handle pretty good. 100$ shipped to anyone interested

I have this too https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif ...On some road, they can be a bit too stiff.

Re: (ProJectCvic)

Ok, are these on d series civics

I am wondering about B18 EG's with ITR F/R sway bars, any ideas, i have had suggested.
7/4
9/6
and from above 8/6 too
I am after decent bump performance as i do 70m a day on freeways, but great handling, so looking at the softer spring, stiffer sways and damping approach. Anyone running this?

sinister6 11-17-2004 07:36 AM

Im with fr. 10k rear 7k, a little too stiff for road. just adjust the damper rate and you should be fine..
