Default Valve adjustment cost

I got some ticking noise I would like to get rid of on my gsr. I think its time for the valves to be adjusted. I looked at a few links on "how to do", looks a little annoying. How much does this cost? Honda/acura would charge a arm and a leg probably but how about a reg. shop?

Angled feeler gauge = max $5
Cheapo socket set for removing valve cover = less than $10
Flat head screwdriver = $3.00
10mm crescent wrench w/ box end = $2-3.00
Wrench/breaker bar + socket for crank pulley bolt = $20-30
Torque wrench for tappets and valve cover bolts = borrow one

$40-50 approximately, and not only do you get your valves adjusted and a little knowledge of your car, but you also get some tools in the deal!

I didn't even need to use a breaker bar to move the engine, I just used my 1/2" drive socket wrench, long *** extension, and the 17mm socket. I didn't feel like going all the way back inside to get the bar... or jacking the car up and taking the wheel off.

I have some of the basic tools but I think I would like to have someone that done valve adjustment before working on my car. It looks like teddies work and requires patience. I would watch and learn but wouldnt attempt to do this job with a "how to" guide unless I really had to.

So far I have someone willing to work on the valves for possibly $40. Sounds good? Only problem is I might have to wait till Wednesday.

No big deal. It's not the end of the world if you have to wait a couple of days.
