B18C into 2000 Civic EX EJ8 (EK)
So for this swap I'm almost done collecting and searching for information. However I need someone who can verify this to help me. Here is the engine i'm gonna get http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30009
I know I need the rear 99-00 SI engine mount, and the rear tranny mount.
There is one thing i'm wondering about the exhaust system, and on the website it says that the engine comes with the original exhaust manifold, and my question is.. Will the end of the manifold bolt right up to my old exhaust system that was stock on my D16Y8?
I'm also pretty sure i've got the whole wiring system figured out. Since the engine i'm getting is OBD1 and comes with the OBD1 ecu, and the 99-00 civic ex/si chassis is OBD2B. I Then figured I would buy a USDM P72 OBD1 ecu and USDM B18C OBD1 wiring harness. THEN buy a OBD2B to OBD1 conversion adapter and just use the one plug that is for the interior wiring harness, and leave the rest of the plugs on the conversion adapter alone untouched, so basically I'll be plugging the engine harness directly into the ecu, but I will use only the interior/chassis plug on the adapter and plug that into the interior/chassis slot of the ecu.
SO if your still reading, can someone please confirm if all this will work? Any input at all would help a lot!

NO, you rexhaust will not bolt right up. its gonna be short. u will either need a test pipe or have your exhaust redone. As far as the wiring goes you're better off using a SI or V-tech harness off of a 99-00 then using a OBD2B to OBD1 jumper harness(depending on which ecu you want to run). Alsoto put the GSR in a EK u need the drivers side post mount (AKA "the timing belt mount" on the engine itself from an 99-00 b16) hope this helps. PS: dont forget the GSR sub harness for your IAB

You can't use the OBD1 wiring harness as it is a 2 piece and your car is a one piece. Either use a 99-00 Si/EX and add the wiring for IAB's or just use your harness and add all the necessary wiring for VTEC, knock, and IAB's.

So since i've got a 00 EX, I should just add Vtec/knock/IAB wiring to the harness? And as the guy above said that I need the drivers side mount, does that mean I need the other two still? And by looking at both posts, I now know that my car is one piece wire harness so that actually makes things easier since I've already got an 00 ex, but will all the already existing plugs actually hook up to the engine even though the wiring harness originally is on a d16y8 (Other than obvious things that won't like VTEC, knock sensor and IAB)?

^^OR even easier, you can buy an aftermarket intake manifold. this is better because:
1) It looks nicer than the ugly GSR one
2) Later on down the line, the GSR manifold becomes useless
3) The GSR intake manifold is hard to work around
4) Your EK throttle cable will hookup easier to a non-GSR manifold
5) The GSR manifold is ugly
6) You dont ned to hookup the IABS!!
in my opinion if you ever swap a GSR, you should do the intake manifold too. trust me. saves a lot of headache. good luck!!

Ok, i'll certainly do that, and do you know if when installing the engine or transmission mounts if i need to do any welding, im hoping not. And do you know if there is any way to make my stock exhaust work without removing or modifying my piping?

no welding necessary!! use your stock CIVIC rubber mounts. but you must get a 99-00 civic si upper timing post mount (has two studs sticking out of it, see pictures) and a 99-00 civic Si rear t-bracket.

As for your exhaust, you can use your stock piping!! just need to get the Catalytic converter extended OR some kind of extra piping welded. your stock exhaust will be a bit too short. you can always go to your local parts shop and get some flex pipe. you can then use this to BOLT your exhaust up.
