Clutch safety switch and cruise switch

Clutch safety switch and cruise switch
To reciprocate the help I found on this site. After 210k miles the little rubber pads on the clutch pedal gave up. Initially the sign was loss of cruise control but it was not bothersome enough to make me chase the problem.
When i couldn't start the car I checked the site and learned of the little rubber gremlins which also led me to the cruise problem.
The cumbersome solutions looked awkward and time consuming so I found a simple solution:
take a metal strip about an inch wide and 4 or 5 inches long and make a curl on one end. The curl should be about 3/4" diameter and is used to snap over the pivot shaft on the clutch pedal.
you can do this without having to contort under the dash and simply feeling the location of the shaft and pushing the strip around the pivot. Push it up like holding a candy cane with the straight side going up to stop the switch.
The cruise was fixed with a piece of rubber plug like you find as rubber feet on electronics equipment but you do have to contort upside down under the dash. If you can feel the spot you may be able to blindly pop the rubber into the hole. Look for rubber shaped like a Hersheys kisses with the tip about 1/4" or something shaped like a stubby T
