Default Keyless Entry Programming?

99 Civic SI

I have the instructions on how to program the keyless remote. However it isnt working. There is a ticking noise inside the car. The noise doesnt stop, it keeps going even when the key is out of the car. Could that be the problem?

Run down to the dealer real quick and they will program it for free.

remove your door panels you may just need more grease, the rod could be stuck.

If you don't have the stock head unit, you won't be able to program anything. The reciever for the keyless entry is built into the stock headunit.

I think the doors need to be closed when you program it

The doors, hoods, trunk were all closed. However the window was open. That may be the problem. As for the headunit, it's stock. Thanks for everyone responding. Anyone else with some advice. I'll be trying it again tm. <3 honda-tech.com

That's only for the '96-'98 models. The '99-'00 models are not on the factory head unit.

My factory keyless was always difficult to program too. It usually took some time to get it right, and I couldn't program more than one remote even if I followed the directions perfectly.
