I'm having the same problem too - my post here - https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...9#post45464929

I will try switching the TPS and MAP plugs if possible - if you've not done it already, try purging the coolant system of air - didn't work for me, but it has cured a fair few of others issues.

I got a new TPS from your side of the pond - £10.76 GBP delivered when everyone over here was looking for £65 GBP on ebay and don't get me started on the dealer prices!

I have put the original IACV back on now as it makes no difference to the idle - unless of course that the one I got (secondhand) has exactly the same issue as the old one - new one from a dealer is over £400 GBP!!

Good luck anyway guys and keep us posted, as will I.

Cheers

Darren

Have you reset the ECU after all the replacement and maintenance you have done?
Maybe alternator is bad? It seems like your idle moves around when there is electrical load in your alternator like fan etc
I'm having somewhat similar problems with my si
But it only happens when ac is on
Good luck

well I cleaned the IACV, and throttle body, PCV. Replaced the coil and roter, but kept the cap and wires. I cleaned and regaped the plugs back to .044. and put in a larger fuel pump. and checked all the wires to be in the proper place.

All this did clear up the a few small issue but still the idle will drop down from 800rpm to 300 then back up to 800 and hold.

i have so far done the same too, hopefully by replacing the TPS it'll fix my problem tho, i also plan to replace my throttle body gasket. my idles from 800ish to 300ish too but sometimes itll go from 800ish to like 1300ish...

I have reset the ecu after doing any mods, the only thing i can think of is that the harness i got is connected to where the radiator fan is always on bc it came off a turbo'd car but would the fan always being on affect the idle? It doesnt do it all the time thats y im not sure...

I've noticed replacing the IACV doesnt work most of the time, It always comes out to be something else and the IAVC are expensive too to replace. Goodluck on fixing yours n ill keep posted on how mine goes.

Check your coolant. If its low, the car will idle like that.

Make sure that when you get the new TPS that you calibrate it properly. It should be @ .5 Volts under "0%" throttle and around ~5V under WOT.

yeah i hear ppl brake em all the time during swaps or they seem to brake during the swap. I just hope that fixes my problem its annoying having it idle all dumb.

yea becuase when your dropping the motor in and lining it up with the mounts, it usually tilts back, and since the TPS is on the back of the intake manifold, it gets crushed on the firewall

Cleaning your iacv doesn't always work...motor of the IACV may still be bad...bust out the ohm tester...touch leads to the iacv motor terminals...should get between 10-15 ohms...if not...than the motor is bad or going bad. This would make it respond slowly to any load placed on it or not at all. TPS sensors rarely go bad...but I guess It's possible... check to make sure its .5 closed 4.5 wot. Best bet is probably to try a whole new t.b. or borrow an IACV from a friend that works to find out before shelling out $$$

But wouldnt my car idle bad 24/7 is it was 100% sure if the IACV was bad or going out, i had this probem like a year ago when i still had my single cam n it would do it 24/7 n this time with my b16a it only does it every now n then? Imma try n barrow a friends IACV to see if mine is bad or not and i still havent replaced the throttle body gasket since i havent had time but i will be changing that too.

check your manifold gasket i was having a problem similar to this before and thats what it turned out to be

The manifold gasket seems to be pretty good, just by the looks of it, it looks like its in pretty good condition but i might take that into consideration and might be changing that too. This is coming out to be a mission on what it could be.

Thats weird, most time if your idle jumps its due to a vacuum leak. Have you tried to spray carb cleaner around the gaskets while the car is running?

No i havent, i will try that tho. I think at the end imma just end up replacing the manifold gasket too. I will try to do most repairs this weekend.

Spray brake cleaner between the tb and the manifold if it changes you have a bad gasket do this also where the manifold meets the head and this will determine a possible bad gasket

This is good info. And OP, let us know how it turns out when you change out the TPS and TB Gasket.

So your saying that my car idles like that bc of the TPS sensor n thats exactly whats messing with my idle?

I've never done this before but your saying when i spray brake cleaner on the gaskets while the car is on if the idle changes its a bad gasket right??
