How to install wheel bearings/lower ball joints (pic intensive)
Can you remove the wheel hub and purchase a wheel hub and bearing assembly and throw it in there? I would think that it would be best to replace it all at once and it would be best in the interest of time if this were possible.
I read the thread and saw all the pictures. The point is this thread talks about replacing the wheel bearing. Why do only the wheel bearing when you can buy a new rotor that has new wheel bearing pressed in for about the same price and replace the entire unit?

Annnnnd this thread is for people that choose to do it the way the OP outlined in the first thread. If you prefer to do it your way then feel free to start your own DIY thread illustrating that process.

I'm dying to see your method on replacing a wheel bearing on the 92-00 civic.

[QUOTE=grumblemarc;49782532]Rotors don't have bearings in them.

what is wrong with these boards? Ask a question and people jump down your throat....anyone here that doesn't want to act like a ****head?
It's a hypothetical question...a simple "no you cant do that" would suffice...

I won't be posting a thread. Again this was a simple hypothetical but I see people here take offense to that....

It's not offense. Maybe you're taking offense in that people are pointing out that your hypothetical is not relevant to the thread. You just don't seem get the point if the DIY.

Didn't read the thread but to McSqeaks...On the front of our cars the hub and bearing aren't available as an assembly because of the way the bearing installs in the knuckle. On the rear bearing/hub assemblies are available.
nub: thanks for the clarification. What I gather is the front and rear are completely different assemblies; just like disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the back? If this is true then that is all that the first person to respond had to say...that I was looking at the part for the rear not the front assembly.
As far as offense...people are obviously on here and being a bit arrogant. I'm not going to beat around the bush and say I know what I'm talking about, if I did I would have no reason to be on this forum.

Not really but all you need to know is that it doesn't come as an assembly. The confusion aside from that is that you stated a rotor comes with the bearing already assembled and as Marc pointed out, they don't even having bearings. My advice is be like Frozen and let it go.
Does anyone know what kind of metal bars are in this pic, or about how much they'd cost me?
I've been trying for the past 3 hours to get my press to work with pieces of wood from a pallet instead of the arbor plate Harbor Freight didn't give me, and that sure didn't work...

So I just got a 93 del sol S and it needs a front bearing and from what I see in the pics and the required tools. I think I can assume that the bearing needs to be pressed, is this correct?
Okay thanks, I was afraid to ask in a post because I got a bunch of flack over asking about the engines for it because I find a bunch of answers to that question so I thought I'd just ask but apparently there's a few people on this forum with severe personal issues
There's always different ways to do things just like there are always different ways to view things. Grow thicker skin and you'll be alright.
Yeah I know there are many ways to do things, I would drive my grandpa nuts because I don't work on cars the same way as he did. I was looking for a more simple answer but one guy/girl got totally pissed off because it was in the FAQ but I haven't been on the site for a decade and a lot has changed since then. Don't worry about the thickness of my skin, I stood up for myself and got a couple of the higher up's to stand with me. And again thanks. I just recognized your user name, you were here when I had joined the first time for my CRX engine swap question. Oh wait sorry yours is 24ten the guy I'm thinking of was 24zen
You can also get the ball joint pressed in and out at the shop and do the rest at home.. usually minimal cost compared to full disassembly and reasembly. Cost me 40 bucks a side
