How to Check if the Civic is having LSD Gearbox???
 

Hi, I've gone through a car advertisment saying that this particular 96 JDM-EK4 comes with a LSD Gearbox. Is there any quick method to confirm it without taking the whole tranny apart?

youll be able to see straight through the diff. if its not lsd youll see a bar going through it

100% way to know is to pull out an axle.

Jack it up, and spin one of the wheels. If the wheel on the other side spins also, the it has LSD.

If you can NOT look thru it, then you do not have LSD.

WOW, OMG, that means I need to take the axles apart to confirm it. I m just concerned that the guy wouldn't let me do it. I wouldn't let someone jack my car up, tear the axles apart just to see the LSD https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

lol.. taking your axles off takes 15 mins... not even.. take off wheels/jack/fluid.. remove lca castle nut on bolth sides, pop out axles... done...

Whoops.. Looks like i m pretty noob at this. Any step by step guide anywhere?

i dont know about you guys but i wouldnt let someone take out my axles jsut to check to see if i have lsd, id rather do a burnoutto show him or let him jack up the car and spin the wheels...

but both wheels must spin the same way when they are off the ground. an open diff will spin the other one backwards

that test is bullshit. i have a stock civic dx.. and both of my tires spin when i did a burnout.. there's no way that they put LSD on a civic dx from the factory

yes there are markings on the tranny, but i dont know if you would be able to see them.

nah... unreliable. with the lsd, it may possibly work that way...

but the only 100% way to guarentee it is....

Thanks!! I think i will just do that...

Just check the top of the tranny it will say lsd stamped or in black stamped.

just spin one wheel..if the other wheel spins the other way you have a syder gear..if it spins the same way it has LSD
