Finding a hatch is impossible!!!!

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (ace1875)
took me 8 months to finally find one i was willing to pay for. Finally found an 93 auto dx hatch at a public autoauction with about 100k miles on it. body wasn't too great, but not a spot of rust on it. The auto also didn't matter cause i had a swap to go in anyways Got it for $1600 tax & tags , everything else i was looking at was 3k or up and all had rust over the rear wells

I got mine off of Autotrader, but it's not an EG. It's a 2000 CX and I JUST BOUGHT IT TODAY!!!! I traded it in for my 2000 DX coupe, so I'll have to change my name to PhillyCX...he he. Just be patient...you'll get it!

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (JaeOne3345)
nah fug that. i mean i have no problem with the car, but it's like everyone already said. don't settle, you'll never be happy. now granted anything besides a 427 shelby cobra is settling for me, however you must live within your means. MMMM, i'd roll in a gt 500 too, just got done watching gone in 60 seconds, I think about that car so often.
And on a personal note: the only civic couple I like is the 99-00. i guess the 2k1+ are ok, but I loove the look of a 99-00 civic si coupe

Right when i decided i wanted an EG, i pictured it to be White, a week later im driving around town and I catch a glimpse of a white EG behind a fence on the right, so i came back around and to my surprise the same EG i pictured right behind the fence, 95 CX w/ 147 for $3200. of course i brought that down to $2600.. but funny thing is next day i called the guy and he almost was in shock because he had just put out the car, so i put a deposit down came back within a week with the rest.. mean time guy had about 10 offers cash and then some for the EG, but the guy had to keep his promise
got it b0ne stock btw.

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (chameleon)
yea i guess you have to keep on searching.. i looked at the newspapers, browsed autotrader and cars.comfor 6 months straight to finally find a perfect condition 96 ek with only 60k miles on it for $5500.. but then it got totalled, so it took me another 3 months of even harder searching to find the one i have now.. 97 cx hatch for only 3500. this is looking in newspaper everyday, autotrade everyday, and everytime i see one that is good price.. i would give them a call and go see the car.. i maybe went to see in person 20 or so cars. many of them were basically taken from under me, people buying them like minutes before i called, or someone offered a higher price and seller sold it before i even got to make another offer...

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (JV)
I recently got mine...Recently meaning about 8 months ago. Maybe 9. I put in a good 5 months of hard looking, obscene drives to look at piles of ****, and countless hours of not sleeping. Sounds rediclous, but that is what I did. There were hatchbacks out there, but not for what I thought they were worth.
It's all up to how much time you have, and how much patience you have. Now that I look back, I should have kept my old *** 1996 EX coupe way back when.

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (ThunderLips)
Couple years ago I drove by a local grocery store and saw this 92 dx hatch called the guy up and bought it $2100. sold it.
Before I sold it though I found a 95 dx coupe in florida bought it 2200. dropped a bag full of money in it and sold it to my bro.
Two months ago went to Chicago and found a beast of a Cx hatch all ready to racing set-up bought it 5200. Yeah sold it.
Couple weeks ago found my dream ride in Denver 93 Si hatch all original, black paint, 1 owner (ret. automotive engineer) Damn seats weren't even broke in!
Paid 4500.
My point like a lot of other folks get what you really want the first time. Actually I still love my 95 Dx and sold it to my bro so I can still race it whenever
Coolest thing about Honda building though is if you find a car on an entry level basis (maybe not your dream Honda) anything you add to it be it engine or race seats you can swap out for the stock parts and sell it for no loss if and when you find "The Car"

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (Hybrid95CivicEX)
I was looking for a long time w/ no luck...then one day I saw a little white 93 dx w/127K sitting there calling my name in a fenced car lot! I called the guy and he said he didn't sell to individuals I wouldn't take no for an answer so I went down there to shoot the **** with him and come to find out we both went to Clemson and he made an exception. $2680 was the final price...$300 more than what he had in it. The motor was on its last leg and Kermit (the one previous owner) I don't think he ever did a oil change...I added 3 quarts then at least 1 a day til she finally blew a week and a half later...I don't think the repeated burnouts and 6K dumps helped much, but my friends definitly got some laughs. They said that 3 different color smoke clouds would be flying out of my hatch...tire, clutch and oil out the back Ahhh that 1.5 was stout for the condition it was in. Anyways after the motor crapped out she sat for a couple months while I motor shopped...my buget allowed me a 99 LS which was not my motor of choice but low miles and a 90 day warranty convinced me...running good ever since...turbo on order...the story continues!

The key is PATIENCE. They are out there, you just have to keep looking. I found what seemed to be a very clean 1995 white CX (original owner) on autotrader this week. Before I could get a chance to look at it, SOLD. Keep looking and don't settle for some POS. Good luck..

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (JV)
Man, I totally feel the frustration that you are experiencing right now. I went through it a couple months ago. No matter where I looked, I could not find a decent hatch. Everything that I looked at was a pile of crap, the paint was bad, the bumpers had holes in them...all that stuff.
So there was basically three things I could do, settle for a bad body, spend the $4k that people were asking for the decent ones, or just keep looking. I kept looking. I never found one. I eventually bought a clean 97 cx the day before I left for school.
It's next to impossible to find a clean eg these days. And if you do, they cost $1k more than what you should be paying. I wish you all the luck, it sucks, I know.

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (JV)
As you all may or may not know, i have been looking for a 92-95 CX VX or DX hatch for some time now and i'm just starting to get super frustrated.
I have posted on every site imaginable, click reload on Autotrader every 5 seconds, and search the local papers like mad. Nothing. I'm about to just give up and buy a sedan or DX coupe. Seems like nobody wants them.
Well what i want to know is where, when, and how did you finally find / get your hatch? Maybe hearing some of your stories will encourage me to keep searching...

Then one day I found one in the local paper. Color I wanted, great body, and 5 spd.
I was almost at the point where I was going to start putting little notes on hatches I would see around stating to call me if interested in selling the car
Good luck!

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (JV)
Well, i had a dx hatch, but i hated it because people thought i had a Type R motor in it just because the car was gunmetal. This was local...i said it's not an ITR, but the local ricers thought i was just covering up. Anyway my car was targetted a lot to be stolen, never happened, so i just sold it. Took the bus for a while and then i bothered my friend with a 1995 cx hatch in mint condition. Every day, i bothered him to sell me the car...it helped that i worked with him as well so i got to beg him even more and finally made him break down and sell it for 2500.

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (ColdAccord)
It took me a good long year to get my hatch and I work for a car dealership. I had my wholesaler looking at the auction, NONE ran through. Everyone wants them but it is getting harder and harder to get them. I stumbled on my hatch in the Auto Trader. It was a company car located far away in the boonies. I saw it loved it and brought it home. good luck on finding one

Re: Finding a hatch is impossible!!!! (B18C5-EH2)
I found my CX 750 miles away on Auto Trader.
It was the first one listed on Auto Trader.com under the "no mileage" restriction.
Just don't settle for anything less than what you're looking for.
