FAQ: HOW-TO FIX WATER LEAK ON PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR

I like many others have experienced a water leak on the passenger floor, horrible it was like i had my own pond in my car. Problem one was the window was in wrong and it had a shitty seal and that caused the first problem. problem 2 wasn't that easytill I took the time to research it, and found out that water was running down the windshield and into my heater core and on to the floor.

First things first remove the wipers.
http://members.cox.net/danielcolletti/start.jpg

Next remove these plugs, they just popout make sure you remove both pieces(plug and hole)it makes for an easy install.
http://members.cox.net/danielcolletti/start3.jpg

Next twist these 180deg. and pull up and they will come out
http://members.cox.net/danielcolletti/startremovale.jpg

The problem: water runs up and over this and into the heater blower and on to your floor
http://members.cox.net/danielcolletti/start2.jpg

The cause: this gasket doesn't make seal anymore and it leaks.
http://members.cox.net/danielcolletti/start4.jpg

The materials:
http://members.cox.net/danielcolletti/start5.jpg
to remove the old gasket
http://members.cox.net/danielcolletti/start6.jpg
to make the new gasket

The fix: run the new gasket where the old one was(obviously)
http://members.cox.net/danielcolletti/start7.jpg

http://members.cox.net/danielcolletti/start9.jpg
i ran two lines where the old one was and reenforced the bigger gasket

http://members.cox.net/danielcolletti/start8.jpg
then build up a wall over the part the water was running down, and then install everything back in its proper place.

I used to have a 93 civic EX and I read on the problems those models had and one of them was the water leak. Honda didn't design that model very well to handle water leaks. Before I sold mine I had the windshield replaced, After about 4 months, the water started to leak everywhere inside the car!!! 1,2,3 heater speeds also didnt work only 4. Also the rear drivers side quarter panel leaked also in the trunk. When I pulled the carpet lining back inside the truck area, there was a puddle of water just sitting there. So I just got ride of it before it started to rust.

Re: FAQ: HOW-TO FIX WATER LEAK ON PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR (disposable)

im getting the pictures, not red x's.

mabey your computer.

if you are getting a leak on passenger side, look under the glove box see if that little tube is undone (you will know) it comes from the A/C. (if you have ac of course)

just something to check.

otherwise gonna have to fix that computer to get the pics to work

I had the same problem on my g2 integra, not sure if its the same on civics, but with mine, these little screw boot things dry rotted and cracked, and thats what let the water in.

There is a service bulletin on this from honda.

Search this site and you will find the how to from honda.

Basically, remove quarter panel, and apply more silicone to where the two panels meet. THere is only a oval hole to get into, so its not that easy, using a bendable tube helps distribute silicone where needed.

make sure you do where the hood bolts down real well!! Thats where most of the leak comes from.

i to would like to see the pics. All the fourms I find on this are old and don't have any pics.
I have a 93 eg sedan and have puddle on the passenger front floor board. Can't tell where it's coming from. It's like magic outta now where just in middle of floor board. I've felt under the dash and where the blower motor is. Even pulled blower motor out (3 screws). Had a bunch of small small leafs and twigs but doesn't seem to have water Messing with it.

Also having a bad pond pond building In my trunk. Can't see any trails or lines of where it's coming from of point of entry. Both sides of trunk lining is soaked and even the very back of car is soaked as well.
Had to pull my subs out to due to it messing up my box bad. 😔 Sorry to bring old topic back up from the grave

Sorry y’all, I moved away from honda for many years and now I back in a del sol. I’m fixing this same issue right now and I’ll dig on my computer to see if I still have the original pictures and upload them.
