I got a comptech header from a friend for my 2k si... Well it's on the head, and it doens't bolt up to the cat. The cats holes are rotated the opposite way as the header. wtf? help ;[

 

get a new cat? sorry not much help some pics would help though i cant imagine what u are saying that well

 

here is a picture see how the header and the cat don't line up (the holes)

 

whats all that stuff on the header?? maybe there is some damage causeing it to line up wrong?

 

what motor was it on before?? is it universal (dumb question i kno)

 

it's just discoloration... there is no damage to the header whatsoever. it's in mint condition, it just looks like the holes are at the same angle as the cat just on the opposite side :confused:

 

maybe the comptech is 2 1/2" diameter and thus you have to use different cat

then the oxygen sensor would be on the bottom and that can't be right

 

thats what i mean, first find out what engine it was on. Because it might not even be for ur car. and u have the 99-00 one maybe it was for the new si. so find that out first then get back to us. U said it was ur friend. ask him

Here's an idea, try unbolting the other side of the cat, rotate it 180 degrees and rebolt everything together.

 

if its froma 2k si and your putting it on a gsr then the cat is rotated in a diff position then a si cat so it wont bolt up...you can get the cat cut and modified to make it fit

 

then the oxygen sensor is on the bottom and that can't be right.

that looks like its for a GSR because it is shorter than the stock SI header.

 

in the pic it's hanging, when i put them together it seems like it goes together without any problem

 

just cut the header and get it rotated...i would do that if i was gonna keep the header

 

cut the header and rotate that piece and weld it back together? can't i just get like a test pipe or something that has that piece that bolts up to the header that can move freely?

 

oh well **** nevermind

i would take it to an exhaust shop and just have them rotate the piece.
