Default Coilover sleeve Install problem! HELP!

Okay..so i got the sleeve on correctly (i think) and on the shock and whatnot..i go to slide the shock into the tower and put the hex nut back on the top and start to screw it down..and the Upper Control arms are also bolted back into place but when i push the hub up the shock comes thru the opening in the top of the Top hat? anyone understand what i mean?

Here is an ACTUAL pic of the stud sticking up showing what im talking about if the car were to be placed back on the ground right now it looks like that because im pushing up on the hub..and thats not suppose to happen..its suppose to stay in place and not stick up and through like that...weird...

What did i do wrong? i need the car back on the road by tommoro night..i have class the rest of the week..Someone help..

make sure you have the strut put together in this order; bottom to top. spring, gold washer that is tapered on one side in the middle, top hat for spring (came with coilovers), stock black top hat, rubber spacers (OEM), black or aluminum washer that curves up at the outer edge, nut on shaft, tightened down.

You might have forgotten the gold washer that is tapered on one side in the center. It sits, tapered side down, on the part of the strut shaft that is tapered, to keep the strut from going out the top of the tower like yours is doing. I've done that before and it did what yours is doing now.

You need to tighten up that upper nut, or is all the way in?

If you are sure everything is on correct, jack your car up, push the shock back down, and tighten the nut down.

Take your wheel off and take a pic.

You're missing #14 and/or #9

I used to see this on a weekly basis at my shop back when people were lowering Hondas/Acuras on a daily basis years ago.

Okay now that im looking at my washers and such that i didnt use..i figured out (i think) what the problem might be..i didnt re-install the black rubber bushing and washer that goes under the top hat which prevents it from coming out of the tower..the black bushing im talking about is #7 and is identical to the black bushing shown in the picture that i posted at the top of the page.. and the silver metal washer that kinda sticks up in the middle goes with the rubber bushing. And the metal washer is #14. Then i have a thin black washer that i think is #9 that goes under where the sleeve sits on the perch.

Correct? i figured all this out just now so i have to go outside in a lil bit and install these washers and bushing and hopefully it will fix the problem! (it should)

Just follow the diagrams (except for the dust collars) and you'll be fine.

Okay guys i got the front sleeves installed! and ONLY the 2 front sleeves since i had to work and i have class tommoro! BUT here are some pics...with only the front slammed it was at 3.5 inches in those pictures but i raised it up to 3 because after the suspension settled on 3.5 i started to scrape and had pretty a lil camber..but i raised it up to 3 and no rubbing and barely any camber..and the ride is pretty smooth for stock shocks..sorry my friend didnt get any side pictures...i dnt know why..

Be easy guys the car needs paint and its a project that isnt done yet
