A/C Slider knobs

A/C Slider *****
When I got my 94 Ex Coupe, the slider ***** were missing. I picked up a new slider **** today from the dealer. They only had one in stock. My question is this, the **** just plugged right onto the fan speed selector, but the temp selector is kinda sunk into the dash, it doesn't stick out the way the fan speed one does. Is there another part that I need to order with the slider **** to make it work? Or is this thing pushed into the dash when it's not supposed to be?
