97 EK coupe Build Thread lots of pics
they are perfect winter wheels
thanks
Thanks man
So I have to take some pics still but sunday night here in jersey we got a blizzard and my brother was driving home from work and he got stuck a block from my house. so I went down to help him get home and he was stuck in a snow bank. I looked over the car and saw that because his car was so low when he went onto the snow pile the front bumper went right over but when he tried to back off of it he got stuck. The bumper was acting as a shovel and pulling so much snow that he almost tore the bumper off lol... so I pulled his bumper off (the right way lol) and shoveled him out. then he went up a hill by my house and turned onto my street and got stuck again so we shoveled hi a nice spot on the street and put some cones around it and walked home with the bumper lol. the next day there was 30 inches of snow all around his car plus what the plows shoved up next to it lmao... needless to say he isn't driving the civic to work any more.
I will take some pics of the car how it is sitting right now a lil later. we got it home but we haven't put it back together yet
Thanks man
I actually get that comment a lot and most people say its because of the color lol cause this is one of the least favorite colors on the ek's and I guess its just cool to see someone working with it.
Idk though I am just trying to work with what we have and do this build with little to no money.
I wanted to put together a price list of the mods that we did to show you guys that we dont put any money into the car unless we have to.
The car was free you could say
we traded my brothers bimmer for it and he bought the bimmer for 2500 and drove the heck out of it and def got his money's worth out of that car.
what we did and what we paid for
total $325 +/- a few bucks for gas to pick up the parts and the oil change lol
there is more but I can't remember I will post them up a lttle later when I remember but I have listed all the stuff we have paid for.

okay so the car is coming along... we have just been fixing little problems that have come up with the suspension... just little common wear problems.
but I just picked up another gsr head to fix a problem we have been having with this one... I am sending it to the machine shop in a few days. and I am going to change the valve seals then the fun begins lol...
I am just wondering if I should pull the motor to do the half rebuild or not...
either way it should be dope when its done and tuned...
so stay tuned

Okay so I will have some pics up later this week after the car gets detailed but I am now working on fixing a few little things that went wrong...
We need a new driverside axle, inner and outer tierods, and rotors and pads in the front.
If anyone has any of these in good condition let me know cause I would like to continue the little to no money spent on this car trend...
lso if anyone know's of a good paintless dent removal in the north new jersey area let me know.
stay tuned

Sorry again for the lack of updates but my brother doesn't want to work on the car ever and I have been busy with my DA... but here is a much needed update.

I finally got my window regulators in and a new pin for the crank handle.
That was the easiest job I have done in a while lol and we can finally roll up the driver window all the way. as you can see in the pic there are two boxes, well that's because I had to swap the driver regulator on both of our ej6's. Thank God its horrible driving around with a window that can't open all the way in the summer heat with no AC. and won't close all the way in the rain.
well I will try and have some more updates soon...
oh btw onto another oil change today if that counts as an update lol

can you provide me the part number please
keep the good work
the part number is 72250-S00-003
you can get it from majestic for $80 or go to a local dealer and get it for $120
I got mine at the dealer cause I needed them quick. but I got both plus the one pin for $200 cause the guy gave me a discount cause I am always buying parts from them. So I paid a few bucks more to have them that same day
So Bought a second identical green 97 coupe, did a a lot of low buck awesome mods to it. (will post pictures tomorrow) my brother bought a bmw and sold his coupe. Then on my brother's birthday I crashed my coupe on rt 287 into a deer. then I bought a green 98 4 door lx completely stock for $500 needed a trans, I had one. Needed a rear upper control arm and rear bumper, Go it already. It needed new shocks and rear trailing arm bushings and rear brakes, So I bought PIC coilovers, Brand new oem trailing arm bushings and new shoes and drums, put a front lip on it and now after exactly $1000 I have a pretty clean very comfy four door sedan and i am so happy. I will have pics of everything tomorrow but I just thought you guys can all figure out what it looks like lol.
I am trying to decide what to do though. I may sell it to build another ej but I also want to do a quick clean comfy swap to it to give it a bit more uummph. I am thinking either an ls or b20 with a b16 lsd trans (oh I got one for free just need to find a new diff) so I am in a bit of a pickle lol any suggestions would be welcomed.
Like I said i will have pics up tomorrow
and let me just give you a quick run down of what i did or I am doing to the sedan in the next few days.
it has
p/s
a/c
working heat
head unit with aux and ipod connections and bluetooth
power locks
power windows
I just did
the trans and clutch and axels
new coilovers
new alternator
new alternator belt
detailed it
new rear bumper
new rear filler
new hood latch cable
new tie rods
new tires
I am installing my ls seats with ek seat pans tomorrow also installing my sub and amp
doing the brakes and rear trailing arm bushings and new oem honda rear lca wed.
putting my bronze bbs basket weeves on
i am swapping blower motors from my crashed coupe because this one makes noise
then I am swapping my power steering pump and muffler and installing my ex intake and exhaust manifolds and new catalytic converter
Then it is getting tucked and shaved and going for some minor body work
the front lip side skirts and mirrors and moldings are all going to be paint matched
then I am installing my black housing headlights and square depot fogs (maybe stanelys if I can get them cheap)
then I have to figure out what motor to install
I want it to stay obd2 and pass nj inspection flawlessly and still retain all p/s a/c but have more power than the d16y7.
so thats it for now
pics tomorrow

RHD CTR carpet will fit in LHD with just a few trimming. I know my cousin has REAL ctr red carpet in his Ek hatch(Non-ctr). Not exactly sure what he did but it fit's perfectly

I never got a chance to get the fronts to fit but I know what I have to do so I am doing it to our 5 lug ek hatch. you will see the jeep wheels on the hatch soon...
I have good news and bad news for the 4 door. good news is I still have it and it runs great I added a 98 gsr oem acura exhaust catalytic converter back complete with chrome muffler tip and an 00 ex header. but the bad news, someone tried to steel my bbs's off of it at the mall and I had no idea when I left. got on rt 80 and the front right wheel came off the car. thankfully the car being low kept the wheel in the well and my brake rotor drove the rim and tire so i was able to pull it off the road with nothing but 4 broken wheel studs. too bad I cant end the story there cause the tow truck showed up after i called AAA and the operator fu**ed up my car bad. Powdermill Towing Dont ever use them!!!!! the guy shows up and I tell him what happened and he was like no problem this is easy so he started hooking the car up and I stopped him. I was like whoah why dont you take the wheel off and roll it up on the rotor so nothing gets messed up. he tells me its fine it willl roll easier if he leaves it where it is. so I stepped back and let "the professional" show me how its done safely and without damaging the car. he starts pulling it up the flat bed with the winch and the car goes up driverside first and slightly lifts the passenger side and BOOOM!!!! tire falls out of the well car drops under its own weight and the winch which is still pulling yanks the passenger tow hook right up. the driver had before this happened asked me to sit in the truck due to the danger of being on the high way so I am crying a little inside when I look out the back window and see this happen. I took pictures of everything. I should have taken video cause now they are trying to screw me. saying i signed a damage waiver but it clearly states on it they are not liable for damages that cannot be avoided. and they will be held liable for any damages as a result of neglagence. when I got home i saw all of the damage. the passenger side fender is destroyed the hood doesnt line up properly anymore and the radiator support is tweaked oh and he tore a hole in the frame where the front tow hook bolts up. all this cause he said and I quote, "I don't want to get the jack and take the wheel off its too far." referring to the jack that was sitting on the passenger side floor of the truck. I am beyond pissed and I am currently in a battle with triple A to get my money for the repairs. 3 body shops in my area estimated the repairs at $1200. it went from $10 for wheel studs and another rotor that I had at my house and maybe an hour or two of my own labor to $1200.
In summation
DONT USE POWDERMILL TOWING OUT OF PARSIPPANY NJ!!!! THEY WILL DESTROY YOUR CAR AND TELL YOU TO **** OFF CAUSE THEY ARE LAZY ******* SCUMBAGS!!!!!!!
on a slightly less fu**ed up note I was able to finish my front and rear integra brake conversion with new trailing arm bushings and all new ball joints.
well I will have tons of pics of everything up for you once i figure out this new problem I am having with the 4 door not starting. (check out my other post if you are interested in helping)
Here are the final pictures of the coupe
getting sent to its new home

and this is how my brother killed it

ok so her are some pics of the new Green EK.

The hatch you see in the back is an other project that me and my crew are working on.
it is a mismatched type r build... kind of an homage to both the ek9 and dc2 type r's.
currently has:
a 97 spec b18c type r longblock
98 spec s80 type r trans
type r shift linkage and chrome shifter
ek9 front lower control arms and shock forks
ek9 front sway bar with oem end links
17mm eibach rear sway bar
skunk2 rear lca's
98 spec itr wheels and full 5 lug conversion with 36mm axles
skunk2 megapower exhaust with a custom ep3 axleback for street and the s2 axleback for whenever we want it loud lol
ek9 front strut bar
and a lot more in it and coming up... I will post its progress in this thread cause I have enough build threads now lol.
it is also going to be the new test ***** for my jeep wheels. btw they will fit any 5 lug honda just with a lot of modification to the front end.

here you can see the restored oem honda muffler and the rear disc conversion with the PIC coilovers.

my shift extender i made with a stock DA shifter and a nut welded on the bottom. normally this is in my DA but since i dont drive it that much i keep it in the dailly. i will be making another one soon that will get powder coated and look pretty lol... this one used to look sick cause i sand blasted it and burnt it with my torch i just forgot to clear it and it now has surface rust.
also you can see my ek9 cup holder
Now here are the pictures from the incident i explained in my last post.
this picture you can see how it sat with the wheel studs broken but the car was still in good shape

now here is the pic of it on the flat bed right when the wheel fell and the hood buckled

and the damage the ******* did...

all of which could have been avoided if he just jacked up the car and removed the wheel or even let me do it.
I will have pictures up later of the hole in the frame.
