Default 1996 EK9 roof spoiler opinions needed please!

Bought a CTR style rear spoiler with tilt brackets. The brackets are 3 position adjustable. What is opinions on tilted or not...pictured car is not my car, just for comparison...I am assuming non tilted is more “stock” proper...just don’t want to get laughed at if tilt brackets are considered blasphemy!

I am no expert in aerodynamics, but I never understood the spoiler in the upright position..... Its a huge brake, just imagine your hand outside the car while its moving. If anything, I would place it in the stock location while on the street, and the middle for track use.

Kinda what I was thinking too Splat! Thanks for the reply! Here is my actual car and how it looks without tilt brackets.

Current generation of stancy lovers enjoy a vertical wall on their hatch.

Personally I'd leave the spoiler stock.

Well technically it is about aerodynamics

Tony, please tell me the net difference of parisitic drag versus induced drag in newtons (it is a metric car after all, and you appear to be the tech police, so it should be easy math for you) imposed by the rear spoiler in all 4 positions, stock, and the 3 adjustable positions let’s call the positions 5°, 10°, 18° & 25°. Remember, the surface area exposed of the spoiler will change with each angle. Let’s say the surface area is 2.75 ft2 in a plan view drawing. All calculations should consider the vehicle ground speed to be 75 mph with a 45° headwind at 15 knots (don’t forget to convert to mph)! Please graph the differences and post here on my thread so I can examine your data. With your data, I will be able to make a decision on which position best maximizes the performance of my car with the given conditions for interstate driving. Oh, one more thing, no one likes a D!CK, D!CK!

Ease up, dill weed. You didn’t ask for help concerning aerodynamics. You asked this because you don’t want to be laughed at, not because you had serious technical question.

I guess the OP revised his question. Personally, I'm interested in the math.

He said, “I am assuming non tilted is more “stock” proper...just don’t want to get laughed at if tilt brackets are considered blasphemy!”

It appears that this was a question about looks, not function; therefore, it appears that he switched from cosmetics to aerodynamic performance.

The car looks great with that spoiler to me; so I’m not at all hating on its looks. The flip-flopping and the titty-baby reaction to Tony’s comment is what’s foolish.
