Default my 97 del sol sounds like a deisel engine... help!

all of a sudden my 97 del sol started making this fast knocking noise coming from the driver side of the engine. i have a d16y8 motor. the car now only revs to 3000 rpms and dies out after a few minutes idle-ing. what can be the problem??? if anyone knows what this problem might be, it would help me alot.

take valve cover off and inspect timing belt for any damage. if timing belt is in good condtion and tight. then check fuel injectors. a faulty fuel injector could cause the same problem too. it happened to me once.

drain/check oil or take off plan and see if u still have bearings in their. mine made an awful clunk when the bottom end went. look for metal in the pan
