Help on identifying Distributor, What car does a TD87U Distributor belong too?
A bit of history before I explain the situation...
JDM B16 2gen on a 95 civic. For some reason when i bought the engine, the B16's distributor plugs (one plug) would not fit the cars harness (two plugs). I did not want to spend $300+ for a 97 Del Sol dist, so I did the following... Prior to the B16 being swapped, I was running a D16Z6. Now the D16 i had, used a two plug dist. but that one did not mount to the new B16. So, out of curiosity I dissambled both distributors and checked to see if i can only swap the internals. Both internals looked exactly the same, had the same part numbers and fit perfectly fine on the other dist. Once the motor swap was complete, I used the dist housing that came on the B16 with the internals from the D16's dist. It worked and has worked ever since the swap.
Now here is the situation. What cap and rotor do I use for the distributor i know have? Usually when im buying replacement parts for the engine, I use the 95 DOHC Del Sol's profile. I went to Honda and asked for a cap and rotor from a 95 DOHC VTEC Del Sol (B16), and it was a bit small. So i dont know what cap and rotor to get.
Here is a bit of info from the distributor I have:
-Dist. internals (Coil, Ignignter, Plug) are from a 95 D16Z6
-Housing on Dist. has "TD87U" stamped
-Leak Cover inside distributor say P73
I hope this helps to identify. I if I have a change tomorrow, I will take some pics. Thanx.
