Default L15B7 - Ticking after Cam Sensor Code

Hopefully someone can give some insight, since I've hit my ceiling with this one. 2021 Sport, L15B7, tune, 100k miles. Started as a infrequent Cam Sensor A code, somewhere around 3.5-5k RPM usually, and would cause the car to slightly buck and go into limp mode. Final time it happened, the car developed a tick at the top left corner of the valve cover (exhaust cam area) that tracks with RPM rise/fall. Shut it down and been wrenching on it since. I tried replacing the chain guides and tensioner, car started up but still had the same issue. Online AI keeps going cam phaser or valve/lifter issue - but I'm not interested in an endless parts chase. Some rockers definitely have more play than others, but I don't know what's acceptable or if it could even be the issue. Same with valves, still need to check with gauge. I will be replacing the timing chain this time around, so guess that will rule out any chain slap. Anyone have any thoughts/ideas?
