Default Fuel mileage Thread - What are other '16-'17 Civic Models getting now?

I'm in the midst of testing how my fuel mileage changes in certain drive modes and with different octanes of gas. I'd be interested in hearing what other '17 Civic drivers are experiencing as well.

I've got a 2017 LX hatch turbo with 752 miles.

The following figures are with my car in econ.
39.5 average MPG over 66.9 miles with 87 octane fuel.
35.4 average MPG through a tank of 91 octane fuel.
35.9 average MPG combined between the tank of 91 and the tank of 87

I plan on replicating the tests with econ mode off. And provided I don't get bored of this experiment, I'm going to run a tank of each octane through driving in solely Sport mode.

I live in Tempe, AZ and work in Phoenix. My driving is mostly commuting to work. 22 miles on the freeway, and two miles on surface streets. I deal with usual early rush hour traffic. I think I'm pretty easy on the gas and on the brakes. Lots of coasting. I keep on eye on the instant MPG gauge and try to keep it above 40 MPG.

If you'd like to contribute to this thread, please include the exact model of your Civic and your overall mileage. I don't expect everyone to have as much same data I do. I'm a bit OCD like that. But it'd be cool to see what kind of fuel mileage people are getting in the real world.

Everyone is welcome! LX, EX, EX-T, Sport, Sport Touring, Si, and Type R (I think that covers all of the trims.) Any body style.

I'll keep contributing to this thread. I expect that my updates will be a couple of weeks apart, as that's about how long it takes me to go through a tank of fuel.

A little update on this. After half a tank on my 87 octane Econ mode test, I've dropped down to 36.4 MPG. Possibly in part to my fiancé driving it a bit. So I think this 87 octane in Econ mode is moot. I'll probably fill it tomorrow and start over. But that will skew my 87/91 octane average.

Edit: I just realized that this update is exactly a week from my original post. So that would have made my prediction of bi weekly updates a dead ringer.

According to Fuelly, most people are getting something in the 35 - 36 mpg range. But bear in mind that this data is the combined value from both the 2.0L NA engines and the 1.5T engines.

With the family 2.0L NA Civic, we're getting an abysmal 26 mpg because we mostly do short drives in the car.

That's about what I averaged in my Splaturn LS2 with the garbage 3.0L V6. I feel your pain.

The results halfway through my 91 octane on Econ mode are 35.3 MPG. I think after this tank I'm going to stick to 87 octane on Econ mode. I'd still be interested in hearing what numbers other people are getting.

I've changed my commute to work up a bit, and as a result I'm now averaging 37.6 MPG on 87 octane in Econ mode.

31.8 mpg on 87 for the first tank in my Si. About 65-70% city driving.

I filled up with 93, will report back when this tank is done.

A little update on this. After several tanks of 87 octane on Econ mode, I'm consistently seeing 40+ miles per gallon. I think my driving efficiency has gotten much better via keeping on eye on the instant MPG gauge.

As signature state, just bought the 2016 Civic Touring in Sep 2017. We took it on a 2197 mile road trip and averaged 39.7 MPG (Econ Mode).
That included 3 days in Branson putting around. One leg of the trip was from St. Louis to Williams KY. That leg generated a 41.8 MPG!
When I bought the car, it stated avg was 35.1. My daily commute is about 30 minutes HWY one way. My avg now is showing 39.4 MPG.

My Son and daughter have owned an 06 Civic for awhile. They have had good luck, so I thought I would give one a try. So far love it.

34.0 average across ~2100 miles, six fill-ups. 70% city driving - have yet to take a road trip in the Si.

two days in on my 2018 Civic Sport Hatch, and the mileage has been in the high 30s to low 40s! I have been pretty amazed so far but haven't been pushing it very much. this is highway and town driving. for what it's worth, this is the first tank; 91 octane. I am hoping it continues.

A little update on this. I'm consistently getting 40+ miles per gallon now. The best average that I've observed was 44.1 miles per gallon. But that was 22.7 miles after a fill up and almost all freeway driving.

Side note. My shift recently got moved up an hour at work, so I fight traffic. Even with more stop and go, I was able to get a bit better economy than I had previously gotten driving the same route at 6:20. The only thing I can think is that I've gotten that much better at predicting where the pickup point in the CVT is as well as being easier on the brakes.

I have a 2016 EX-T. I get at least 25 MPG if i try to avoid heavy throttle. If i'm on it a lot and really having fun with the car i get 20-21 MPG. This is all in very heavy california city traffic, with frequent stop lights.

That's why i went turbo over N/A civic. The N/A version felt like you had to rev the **** outta it to make it go anywhere. The turbo is just effortless even in ECO mode

You might want to drive a litter farther to get accurate numbers who fills up after using .5 gallons? That would be like me getting gas at the top of a mountain and posting results that by the bottom I had achieved 89 MPG by coasting down a hill for 8 miles.

Road trip tank = 367 miles at 38.8 mpg. Richmond area traffic cost us a little, and I had to fill up well before empty due to location. I can break 400 miles range on a city tank, I'd love to see 450+ on a full highway tank.

Are you using information provided by on-board computer, or are you dividing your mileage driven by gallons used?

I'm going off of the on-board computer.

I saw my highest average mileage yesterday morning. 50.1 on 87 octane in Econ mode.

After doing a few days city driving I went on a longish hwy trip. I had 40.9 on the computer but 35.8 with math.

I may be taking my first longish trip soon. Three hours and 200 miles. I'll update this accordingly.

Have you compared your on-board result to dividing miles driven by gallons used? Does your on-board match, read high, or low?

I haven't done the math. I probably will for this tank.

My road trip netted me 35.6 average. I attribute the low number to a lot of hills.
